Reading Eagle, Dec 5, 1934 Man and Woman
found shot to death in auto Rock Hill, S.C., Dec. 5 - The bodies
of Mrs. Frank Simpson, 28 and J.T. Cornwell, 34, were found today in an
automobile parked on a highway about two miles from here. The woman
was shot through the body and Cornwell in whose hand a revolver was found,
had a wound through his head. Authorities expressed the opinion that
it was a case of murder and suicide. Mrs. Simpson is survived by her
husband, who operates a dairy, and several small children. Cornwell,
a bookkeeper, was a widower, but he left two young
children.
Newberry Observer, Feb 7, 1889 A Gang of
Murderers Rock Hill, SC, Jan 31 - Charles Colston, colored, was
arrested this morning at this place charged with murdering Mr. W. C.
Abernathey in his store, at Catawba Junction, on Friday night last.
He has confessed being one of the party who committed the deed and
implicates six others. John Fraser, colored, the ringleader, has
been arrested. The others are still at large. There is intense
excitement and talk of lynching. The prisoners are closely
guarded. |
