"Liberated"
Soldier: Sgt. Arthur C. Dickerson
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dickerson, parents of the soldier, received a telegram from the International Red Cross that their son, who had been reported missing in action, was freed from a German POW camp. Sgt. Dickerson was missing over Berlin on March 18, 1945. Three others from his crew were also freed. He was a waist gunner on a B-17.

"Edward McAtee is Promoted in Rank"

"Lt. Jack Krouse Gets Air Medal"
Soldier: Lt. Jack L. Krouse
The Air Medal was awarded to Lt. Krouse, along with 53 other navy airmen, at the U.S. Naval Air Station in San Diego. The citation reads, in part: "distinguishing himself by meritorious acts in aerial flight," and on the following day he contributed "in great measure to the success of our attacks." Lt. Krouse shot down one Japanese bomber and caused damage to another one on October 24, 1944. The following day, he strafed enemy ships. These events occurred in the battle for Leyte Gulf.
