PARKS-ADDISON

LeRoy Parks and Martha Addison were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents on McEathron's ranch Wednesday evening, by Rev. Hill, of Huron. The wedding occured at 8:30 in the presence of one hundred guests. A bountiful and delicious wedding feast was served. Mr. and Mrs. Parks received numerous very pretty and useful presents.

ELDORA REIMER OF WESSINGTON SPRINGS IS MARRIED IN DOUBLE RING CEREMONY

Wessington Spring, S. D. - Miss Eldora Reimer, daughter of Mrs. Rozena Reimer of Wessington Springs, and Albert Lucklum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lucklum, of Huron, were married the evening of Oct. 28 in the American Lutheran church at Huron. The Rev. Sander Tollefson, pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony.
Miss Loretta Christensen sang, "The Lord's Prayer," with Mrs. Matson as accompanist. The latter also played the wedding marches.
Given in marriage by her brother, Arthur Reimer, the bride wore a white satin gown with lace yoke and long sleeves that tapered at the wrists. Her veil of net, trimmed with white lace, was held in place by pearl orange blossoms. Her corsage was of pink and white carnations.
Miss Doris Reimer was maid of honor, she wore a white satin gown. Her corsage was of yellow carnations.
Bridesmaids were Miss Elsie Reimer, who wore a pink net gown, and Miss Gertrude King of Virgil, who wore a gown of blue net over white satin. Their flowers were yellow carnations.
Leonard Ray Reimer was ring-bearer and Sandra Kay Rasmussen, flower girl.
Eugene Lucklum of Alpena was best man, Ted Reimer and Daniel Reimer, lit the candles and were ushers.
A reception for 125 guests was held at the YWCA headquarters in Huron following the ceremony. Mrs. Eugene Lucklum had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Woodrow Wagner and Mrs. Edward Wagner had charge of the gifts. Waitresses were Mrs. Milton Reimer and Miss LaVois Lucklum. Mrs. Julius Schorzman cut the cake, which was decorated in pink and blue.
The bridegroom is employed in Huron, with the Bureau of Reclamation. The bride has been employed in the Corner Cafe, Woonsocket. Following a short trip, the couple established their home in Huron.
Among out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Schorzman, Scotland; Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Reimer, Howard and Mr. and Mrs. Peter E. Zell, Menno.


 

GERARD-ALEXANDER

Married, at the residence of John Gerard, of Walled Lake, by Rev. S. P. Brokaw, of Altoona, Miss Maggie Alexander and Elmore Beebe. About 6 p.m. an audience of about thirty of the relatives and intimate friends assembled and the ceremony was performed in due style, after which the company partook of the rich viands prepared by the hostess and spent an enjoyable evening. Many rich and beautiful presents were given. The happy couple will repair at once to the Caldwell ranch, where they intend to keep house. We extend our best wishes to the happy pair, and wish them a long, happy and prosperous life.

MARRIED--Mr. P. McDonald of Huron and Miss Lillie Kendall of Gettysburg, Dakota, were married at the bride's residence on Saturday, April 2, 1887, by Rev. P. B. Fisk, of the Congregational church.  They have arrived in Huron and are stopping temporarily at the Dakota house.  In a short time they will begin house keeping in the Preston house, at the corner o 5th and Nebraska streets.  Welcome and Joy!

LEARN OF MARRIAGE OF WESSINGTON COUPLE
The marriage of Miss Fern Godsworthy and James Buntin, both of Wessington, which took place in Nebraska last week has just been announced to their friends.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Mabel Goldsworthy, who lives in Wessington and the groom is the son of George Bunting of near Wessington.
At the present time the newly married couple are residing at the home of Wayne Grinel, south of Wessington.

PETERSON-SCHEFSKY WEDDING SATURDAY
The marriage of Miss
Freda Schefsky of Forestburg to Mark R. Peterson of Huron took place at three o'clock Saturday afternoon at the office of the American Lutheran church.
The Rev. S. D. Disrud read the ring service in the presence of Miss Velma Schefsky and Orville Schefsky, sister and brother of the bride. The wedding party went to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. herman Schefsky in Forestburg, for a wedding dinner at six o'clock Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson will be at home after June 10 at 175 Park avenue southwest. Mr. Peterson is a clerk at the post office, and Mrs. Peterson has been a nurse at the Huron clinic.
The bride's gown was of gray crepe trimmed in rose color.



POLLY - PIERSON

ANNOUNCE MARRIAGE OF FORMER HURONIANS
Miss Helen Pierson and Manford B. Polly, both formerly of Huron, were married at the Woodlawn Immanuel English Evangelical Lutheran Church at 4:20 o'clock Saturday, March 1, in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Withers were the attendants and a wedding supper was served in their home after the ceremony. Mr. Polly is employed at the Midwest Advertising Company.
The newly married couple will make their home in Chicago.



SPANGLER - THOMPSON

ANNOUNCE MARRIAGE OF FORMER HURONIAN
Announcements have been received here of the marriage of Miss Lillian Thompson of Beloit, Wis., daughter of Mrs. Ole Strand of Woonsocket, S. D., and Bud Spangler, also of Beloit. The marriage took place May 8 in Beloit, where they will make their home. Mr. Spangler is a salesman for the Chevrolet Company and Mrs. Spangler is a clerk in a store. She formerly resided in Huron, returning to Beloit about two years ago to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Kenneth Shepherd. She is a niece of Mrs. George Oas of this city.

NEWLY MARRIED COUPLE TO LIVE NEAR SENECA
Gettysburg -- The wedding of Miss
Marion Van Buckel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Van Buckel of Lebanon, and George Oleson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Oleson of Seneca, was solemnized Wednesday at the Lutheran parsonage. The bride was attended by Miss Harriet McLean and the groom by his brother, Carl Oleson.
Mrs. Oleson is a graduate of the Gettysburg High School, class of 1941. Following their return from a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Oleson will be at home on a farm near Seneca.

 



FOSSUE - HOFFMAN

IRENE HOFFMAN AND RALPH FOSSUE WED

Lake Preston - A wedding of interest this week was the marriage of Irene Hoffman and Ralph Fossum. They were married at the Lutheran Church at Brookings by the Rev. Carl Hanson. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Gale Odden of Lake Preston. They left immediately following the ceremony for the Black Hills for a week. They will make their home here. Mr. Fossum is the manager of the Fossum Red and White Store and Miss Hoffman is the assistant in the postoffice.

ENGLEBRETSEN-MURRAY WEDDING PERFORMED

The marriage of Miss Anita Jayne Murray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Murray of Omaha, and Roy Englebretsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Englebretsen, 1006 Iowa Avenue Southeast, Huron, was performed by the Rev. Mr. Frank of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha Saturday, December 27, at four p.m.
The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Emil Englebretsen, brother and sister-in-law of the groom. The bride wore an afternoon dress of black velvet with pale blue accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Her attendant wore an afternoon dress of pale blue wool, matching accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. The groom and his attendant wore dark suits and white carnation boutonnieres. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the newlyweds' apartment, Twenty-sixth and Doublas Street, Omaha.

Mrs. Engelbretsen attended public school in Denver, Colo., was graduated from Omaha High School and attended St. Catherine's School of Nursing. She has been employed as receptionist in the Guarantee Mutual Life Company of Omaha. Mr. Englebretsen attended Huron public schools and was graduated from Huron High School. He attended the University of South Dakota and was graduated from Creighton University, Omaha, in 1939, where he starred in football and basketball. Roy is employed as investigator for National Retail Credit Company in Omaha. The couple will be at home after January 1 at the Athlone Apartments, Twenty-sixth and Douglas, Omaha.

KEFFLER-JACOBSON WEDDING SOLEMNIZED
Woonsocket - Lyle Koffler, Virgil, son of Mrs. L. Anderson, Bowman, N. D. and Phyllis Jacobson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Jacobson, Woonsocket, were married at the American Lutheran Church in Huron at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4.
The bride was attired in a white street length dress and carried a corsage of roses and carnations. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Sander Tollefson, pastor of the American Lutheran Church, Huron.
The bridesmaid, Miss Mavis Jacobson, sister of the bride, wore a gown of yellow frosted organdy. Donald Plunkett, Huron, was best man.
The bride is a graduate of Woonsocket High School with the class of 1949. The bridegroom attended high school at Bowman and served in the 31st Division, Asiatic theatre during World War II.
A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Sunday, June 5, at Woonsocket.
After a wedding trip the young couple will make their home at Virgil.



DAVIS-HOFER

DAVIS-HOFER VOWS EXCHANGED AT ALPENA
Alpena - A ceremony Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Alpena united in marriage Miss Marcelleen Hofer of Onida and Harold Davis of Alpena.
The bridegroom operates a blacksmith shop in Alpena.
The wedding trip was taken to Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado and Iowa.

Now at home on a farm near Hitchcock are Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill Peterson. Mrs. Peterson is the former Miss Marilyn Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Miller of Hitchcock, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peterson of Wolsey. The two were married at the Methodist Church in Hitchcock, September 14. The wedding trip was taken to Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.


 

STEVENS-BUCHER

Former Miller Young Lady Married at Huron
At a nuptial mass at eight o'clock Monday morning in St. Martin's Catholic church the marriage of Miss Ellen Bucher and Russell D. Stevens, both of Huorn, was solemnized by the Rev. Father Gorman.  Attendants at the wedding were Miss Hildgarde Kluthe of Huron and Alfred Bucher, brother of the bride, Miller.  Miss Mary Smith played the wedding march and also played soft organ music during the ceremony.
The bride's wedding dress was of sea aqua alpaca of street length style and with it she wore turf and tan accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses, asters, Peruvian lilies and lilies of the valley.  Miss Kluthe's dress was of a dusty pink with toast colored accessories and a shoulder corsage of sweetheart roses and carnation fleurettes.  The bridegroom and his attendant wore dark suits and white carnation boutonnieres.

Mrs. Minnie Johnson gave the bridal breakfast at her home, 730 Idaho Avenue Southeast, which was attended by fifteen guests.  Garden flowers and a wedding cake formed the decorations on the breakfast table.

Mr. and Mrs. Stevens left on a wedding trip to the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park.  For traveling Mrs. Stevens wore a two piece sport suit in gaberdine of a powder blue color.  Upon their return in two weeks they will make their home in Huron.
 

The bride is a graduate of Miller High School with the class of 1933 and has since made her home in Huron.  The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Stevens of Huron and is a graduate of Huron High School and also of the accounting department of the Mankato College of Business, Mankato, Minn.  He is employed here as a livestock buyer for Armour and Company.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Herman Martinmaas and Walter of Orient; Paul Burke of Miller and Edward and Alice Bucher of Miller.
