NO TRACE MEN ROBBED OFFICE
Bandits who Operated On Bruce Postoffice Still Loose
Bruce, Dec. 29 – Although a diligent search has been prosecuted over a wide scope of country by scores of officers, not the slightest trace yet has been found of unknown bandits who robbed the Bruce postoffice, escaping with a registered package, the value of which has not yet been ascertained. It is rumored that the package contained a large sum of money. Entrance to the postoffice was effected late at night by forcing the front door. The registered packaged and the coin drawer were both in the safe, which had been left unlocked. The coin drawer contained quite a sum of money, but this was overlooked by the bandits in their search for larger game. The bandits are believed to have taken refuge in the railroad depot, as the lock to the waiting room was found broken. They evidently remained there until a passenger freight train late at night gave them an opportunity to make their way out of the country. On a prior occasion the Bruce postoffice was robbed of about $100.
