Cain, James, Farmer, S. 26, T. Plato, P.O. Zell.  Mr. Cain was born in Illinois in 1860 and settled in Hand County in 1885.  He is married to Bertha Sleingrnbe*; they are the parents of three children.  Mr. Cain has served as Township Clerk and Justice of Peace.

Calkins, F. P., Farmer and Stockraiser, S. 25, T. Holden, P.O. St. Lawrence.  Mr. Calkins was born in Pennsylvania in 1848 and settled in Hand County in 1882.  He is married to Jennie A. White; they are the parents of five children.  Mr. Calkins has served as Township Clerk, Township Supervisor and School Clerk.

Campbell, C. C., Deputy State Supervisor, Miller.  Mr. Campbell was born in Fon du Lac County, Wisconsin in 1853; he is deputy state surveyor.  Located in the County of Hand on section 26, Pleasant Valley Township, April, 1882, where he resided for 11 years.  Moved to Miller in April, 1895; was appointed deputy state surveyor of the state of South Dakota, and City Engineer of the City of Miller.  He is still serving in these capacities.

Campbell, M. A., Famer, S. 31, T. Pleasant Valley, P.O. Ames.  Mr. Campbell was born in Minnesota in 1880 and settled in Hand County in 1902.  He has served as Chairman Township Board and Township Supervisor.

Campbell, O. C., Farmer, S. 31, T. Ohio, P. O. Miller.  Mr. Campbell was born in Minnesota in 1873 and settled in Hand County in 1905.  He is married to Lizzie Ferris; they have eight children.

Carl, Isaac, Pool Room, Barber Shop and Dray Line, St. Lawrence.  Mr. Carl was born in Iowa in 1887 and came to Hand County in 1888.

Carl, Robert, Farmer, S. 6, T. St. Lawrence, P.O. St. Lawrence.  Mr. Carl was born in Hand County in 1891.

Carl, W. G., Cashier Bank of Vayland, Vayland.  Mr. Carl was born in Iowa in 1885 and settled in Hand County in 1909.  He is married to Mabel A. Hill.

Carter, J. W., Farmer, S. 19, T. Wheaton, P. O. Rockham.  Mr. Carter was born in Iowa in 1857 and settled in Hand County in 1907.  He is married to Ida Martin; they are the parents of five children.

Cawood, Thos., Farmer and dealer in General Merchandise, S. 13, T. Mondamin, P.O. Ames.  Mr. Cawood was born in Indiana in 1838 and settled in Hand County in 1883.  He has held office of State Representative and has served as Postmaster of Ames for a number of years.  Mr. Cawood is a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted in 1861 and was discharged in 1865.  He was first Sergeant in Company G. 17th Missouri.

Choate, C. L., Farmer, S. 28, T. Pearl, P.O. St. Lawrence  Mr. Choate was born in New Hampshire in 1856 and settled in Hand County in 1892.  He is married to Anna M. Ful er*; they are the parents of three children.  Mr. Choate has served as a member of the School Board for a number of years.

Christiansen, T., Farmer, S. 9, T. Ohio, P.O. Miller.  Mr. Christiansen was born in Germany in 1853 and settled in Hand County in 1902.  He is married to Ella Nicholson; they are the parents of two children.

Coquillette, John W., Cashier Citizens State Bank, Miller.  Mr. Coquillette was born in McHenry County, Illinois in 1861, removed to Auduben, Iowa, in 1878, arrived in Miller, South Dakota, April 1884, where he engaged in the Mercantile Business until 1906, when he retired and accepted the position of Cashier of the Citizens State Bank of Miller, in which occupation he is still engaged.  Mr. Coquilette has always been a believer in Miller and Hand County as a location for permanent investments, and is the promoter of Coquillettes addition to the City of Miller.
