PFC. JOSEPH KRAMPS 
GETS PURPLE HEART.
WOUNDED IN BELGIUM

For arm wounds received in action in Belgium, Pfc. Joseph Kramps of Polo has been awarded the Purple Heart.

He has also been awarded the certificate of merit in recogniztion of conspicuously meritorius and outstanding performance of military duty.

The citation presented him by Brigadier General R. W. Hasbrouck reads: "For superior performance of duty  as cannoneer in helping to hold off overwhelming enemy forces on December 7, 1944, at Recht, Belgium."

Pfc. Kramps, in a tank battalion of the infantry, entered the service in November, 1942, and has been overseas since Oct. 20, 1944.  He has one brother, Pfc. Lawrence Kramps, who has been reported missing in the same war theatre.
