LIEUT. LEO VALDER 
FORMER COACH, 
IS REPORTED MISSING
Word from relatives and news dispatches Saturday brought to Miller friends the news that Lt. Leo "Fritz" Valder had been reported missing in action over the European war threatre.  Lt. Valder, according to the official notice from the war department had been missing since January 16, and Mrs. Valder added the information that he was on his third mission.

Lt. Valder, before his enlistment in the air corps, had held the position of coach in the Miller high school, terminating his duties here in June, 1942.

Last word received here directly from him stated that he would drop a bomb over Berlin for Miller and the school.

Lt. Leo "Fritz" Valder has been reported as killed in action, according to word received by relatives.

Lt. Valder was first reported missing in February, 1944, when his plane was forced down on his third mission.

Before enlisting in the air corps, Lt. Valder had held the position of coach in the Miller high school.  Mrs. Valder, the former Margaret Long, and their little son, whom Lt. Valder had never seen, live in Plankinton.
