MethodistThe Rev. A. F. Thompson of Huron organized a Sunday School late in 1882. Rev. A. S. Leavell started building the church in1884, which was continued by Rev. Bradford, who also had the foundation enlarged. In 1888 Rev. Turner saw the finishing of the church buildling accomplished, and it was named "First Methodist Church" . Pastors have been: Rev. John Kearton, left 1916; Rev. Tarleton, Rev. McLain, Rev. Gardner, Rev. Sheldon, Rev. Cooney, Rev. Hart, Rev. Whitney, Rev. Ernst, Rev. Laxamana, Rev. Parvin, Rev. Dwayne F. Knight added Asbury hall. Rev. Cecil F. Miller started with the church in 1955. In 1925, Miss Teller gave a monetary gift to the church and in 1929 it was used to enlarge the building.
Presbyterian
The first service was conducted by Rev. Pomeroy from Huron, early in 1882. Sunday School organized by Rev. J. Kimball from the American Sunday School Union. The first permanent pastor was Rev. A. S. Foster from Sac City, Iowa, May 1882, sent by Presbyterian Home Mission. The first church was organized by Rev. W. S. Peterson June 25, 1882; charter members were William McMurray, G. A. Gray, Harvey A. Dean, Mrs. Catherine Dean, Mrs. Ella Gardner, Mrs. Maggie R. Foster. In Oct. 1882, plans were made for a building, with work starting in May 1883. The church was dedicated on July 8, 1883. A second building was dedicated on July 15, 1930 at the same site, the Rev. Joseph Andrews was pastor at that time.
Catholic
The first services were held at the old courthouse on 2nd st.in 1884, with Fr. A. J. Bunning the first priest. Fr. Robert W. Haire and Fr. Theo A. Majerus came at intervals; Fr. Pius Boehm, Fr. Ambrose Mattling early a few of the early priests who served the church. Early in 1884 Henry Miller gave land 1 mile south of town for "permanent" church, and a building was erected, which was finished July 31, 1884. Later, two lots in town (located two blocks east of Main st.) were given by J. J. Smith, and the church building was moved there. Land for cemetery (St. Ann's) northeast of Miller was given by Ed Dunn and Dan Walsh.
Christian Church
The first services were held in tents, with Rev. Elliot.
Baptist church and Evangelical church
Both churchese were located south of the railroad.
Trinity Lutheran Church
and many rural churches.
