COMPLETE PLANS FOR HOMECOMING
Pageant Coronation of Queen Thursday.
Rustlers Meet Ipsqich in Free Game Fri. Oct. 13
Homecoming activities for Miller high school will open with a pageant, "All Clear," at the city auditorium at 8:00 o'clock Thursday night, October 12. As a part of the program for the evening, the 1944 Homecoming queen will be crowned. The pageant will be followed by a pep fest on main street.Friday afternoon at 2:30 the Rustler football squad will play host to the Ipswich eleven to be followed in the evening by a carnival and dance.
As for several years past, the Miller Civic and Commerce Association will assume all expenses of the football game, and admission to the Miller-Ipswich game is free.
Tickets for the Homecoming queen went on sale Wednesday, October 4, and will continue until Thursday noon, October 12. The prize for the queen tickets will be a $25.00 War Bond, which will be given away during the carnival Friday night.
The candidates for queen are: Seniors, Magdalen Kluthe; juniors, Dorothy Abernathy; sophomores, Arlie Palmer and freshmen Beverly Collins. The fact that the present seniors have succeeded in getting their candidate crowned the past three years and are trying to make it four straight is adding to the interest of the race.
Climaxed by a carnival and dance, the annual Homecoming of Miller high school was acclaimed a complete success, from the coronation of the queen, to the overwhelming victory in the football game. ***************************************
FOOTBALL VICTORY MAKES SUCCESSFUL HOMECOMING DAY
Magdalen Kluthe, senior candidate, was crowned Homecoming queen at the pageant on Thursday evening. This same class has had the distinction of electing their candidate through all four years in high school
In the football game Friday afternoon the Rustlers defeated a strong and fighting Ipswich team, 46-0.
The first two touch downs were made by Zimmermann, and came as the result of an intercepted pass and blocked punt.
Through good running and splendid interference, five more touch downs were piled up, Jones accounting for three, and Cahalan and Dwight Deardorff for one each. Four tries for extra points were successful.
Aggressive line play throughout the game prevented the Ipswich Tigers from penetrating into scoring territory.
Thursday afternoon the Rustlers left for Watertown, where they will play that school tonight at 8 o'clock.
