McPherson county.

This county lies near the centre of the Territory, and has an area of 1,152 sqnare miles. It was first settled in 1883 and organized the year following.

The surface in the eastern part is mostly level prairie land, is somewhat broken in the central portion, and in the western is generally undulating.

The soil is a rich loam with clay subsoil, well adapted for agricultural purposes,

The thtee principal streams in the county are Elm river, Snake and Spring creeks. Several lakes are also scattered over the area.

Leola, the county seat, claims a population of 300, and is a rapidly growing town.
