Lightning has done considerable damage to livestock in the vicinity of Eureka. Two horses belonging to Theodore J. Arntz, one horse belonging to Ed Arntz and three cows belonging to August Frank were killed. The barn of George Schilling of Akaska was damaged, and John Staebler’s barn was destroyed by wind.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Moller of Nortonville, N. D., visited with Mrs. Frank Goodrich, sister to Mr. Moller, Tuesday. They left for home Wednesday afternoon.

The large barn of Emil Dierenfeldt, a farmer living just south of Eureka, was destroyed by fire, with a considerable quantity of hay and feed, farm machinery, harness, wagons, tools, etc. The barn was 50x84 feet in size, with an addition of 16x60 feet. Dierenfeldt carried $1,500 insurance, but the loss will be largely in excess of that amount.

At the Lutheran church in Eureka, the Rev. R. H. Runge performed the ceremony uniting in marriage Miss Emma Doering, daughter of John Doering, a prominent Eureka resident, and Edward Schaefer of Tripp, S. D. The young couple departed after the ceremony and the wedding dinner to Tripp, where they will reside.

Mrs. John Rachel and children arrived here Friday from Maple Lake, Minn. Mr. Rachel has been here for some time doing carpenter work. They are going to live in the Wetrick house which has recently been remodeled by Mr. Rachel.
