Location:
Section 1, Township 41N, Range 31W - Suprise Valley Township
History:
We found this cemetery hard to locate as the WPA GS had the wrong legal description. Mr. Shouldis helped us in our search and we finally found it. Our description is correct.
The cemetery was organized in 1893 by Mr. Castaway as a place to bury his family. It has no denominational affiliation and other families also used it as a burial ground.
Mr. Shouldis said that the Running Bird family used to take care of the cemetery but since they had moved to town it had not been cared for.
The cemetery has a 4-barbed wite fence around it but it is not in very good condition. It is overgrown with weeds and native grass.
