History:
Cedar Butte Catholic Cemetery is also known as St. Joseph's Cemetery. It was organized in 1930 by Father Beagle.
On the 1940 Grave Survey Report, Carl Johnson says, "the mission (St. Francis) designates when the cemetery is to be cleaned up but little is done about it."
When we visited the cemetery in 1990, it was overgrown with native grasses and cactus. There was one mowed path. Some of the crosses had been thrown outside the fence which was in poor condition, however it does keep livestock out.
