August 18, 1899 - H.C. Hoover manager of the Cumberland Telephone Co. in Paris, was in the the town of Big Sandy making plans for the building of a telephone line from Paris to Big Sandy. If enough subscribers were secured in Big Sandy, an exchange would be installed. (Camden Chronicle>
