REBECCA (McDANIEL) ABBOTT , age 89, of Camden, TN, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Camden General Hospital. Mrs. Abbott was born in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Brownie and Tom McDaniel. Mrs. Abbott was also preceded in death by her husband Herschell Thomas Abbott. Survivors include: daughter, Betsy Kay Abbott Key (Bill) of Camden, TN; grandson, Bill Kee of Camden, TN; sister, Anna Rose Pace of Bruceton, TN; niece, Teresa Everett of Michigan; nephews, Tommy Pace of Dickson, TN, Phillip Smith of Memphis, TN; and sister-in-law, Christine Smith of Memphis, TN. Mrs. Abbott was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, a member of the Benton County Fair Association for many years and helped with Girl Scouts in Camden. Mrs. Abbott donated her remains to Anatomical Science at Vanderbilt University. A memorial service was held Sunday, August 12, 2007, 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church. Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Oakdale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

REBECCA JANE (WILSON) ALSUP , 85 years old, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada Sears, 522 South Third Street. She had been ill for some time. The body was taken to Iredell in Puckett's motor hearst, and the funeral took place this morning. Mrs. Alsup, who was a native of Tennessee, had been ill for some time. Her home was in Post City, and she was visiting her daughter here at the time of her death. She had been a resident of Texas for about 28 years. Besides the daughter here, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Tennie Ashcraft and Mrs. Lily Everett, Post City; Mrs. Martha Ashcraft, Goodlett, Texas, and two sons, Jack Alsup of Goodlett and B. W. Alsup of Plainview. She also has one brother, W. H. Wilson, who lives in Tennessee

ROY M. ALSUP , 93, of Caraway, Ark., died Tuesday in Lane's Nursing home. He was born in Camden, Tenn (15 Jun 1863). He was a retired employee of the Wall Comonoy Corp, and was a member of the Caraway Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Lena Alsup of Caraway; two sons, Archie Russell Alsup of Benton Ky., and Bill Fletcher Alsup of West Memphis, Ark. four daughters, Marie Medsker of Searcy, Ark, Bonnie McCord of Black Oak, Ark, Ruth Hillhouse of Caraway, Ark, and Melita Dougherty of Monahan, Texas; One sister, Louise Jones of Benton, KY.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the Caraway Church of Christ, with John Shadowens officiating. Burial will follow in the Caraway Cemetery, under the direction of Langford's Funeral Service of Jonesboro, Ark. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 this evening at the church.

JOHNNIE HELEN (PHIFER) ANDREWS was born Sept. 7, 1924 in Camden, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Rupert A. and Johnnie (Forrest) Phifer. She married Noal A. Andrews who preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Danny L. and Randy L. Andrews, both of Wilmington; two half-sisters, Sadie Wheatly and Hazel Lowery, both of Tennessee. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Elmo Phifer and a half-sister, Jewell Cuff

BLONDELL (KENNON) ARNOLD - Funeral services for Blondell Kennon Arnold, of Camden, age 94, were held Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home with Marty Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Chalk Hill Cemetery. Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home of Camden was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Arnold passed away Monday, Aug. 18 at Camden General Hospital. She was born Sept. 3, 1913 in Camden to the late Otto Arnold and Rene Presson Arnold. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerome Kennon, her second husband, Bill Arnold, a son, Calvin Kennon, two sisters, Beatrice Bray and Verna Pitts, and two brothers, William and Charlie Arnold. She is survived by four daughters, Nelva Kennon Davis, Faye Kennon Ward, Rebecca Arnold Jones, and Kathy Arnold Palmer, all of Camden; two sons, Dwayne Kennon, of Memphis, and Stanley Kennon, of Springville; 37 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great- grandchildren.

LILLIE EILEEN (COLEMAN) ARNOLD - Funeral services for Lillie Eileen Arnold, of Camden, age 89, were held Friday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home with Marshall Gurley officiating. Burial followed at Cross Roads Cemetery. Oakdale Funeral Home of Camden was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Arnold passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital in Jackson. She was born Oct. 31, 1920 in Camden to the late Dewey and Coleen Pierce Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Coleman. She is survived by her husband, George F. Arnold; a son, Billy (Kay) Arnold, of Camden; a daughter, Bobbye (John) Lynch, of Clearwater, Fla.; five grandchildren, Johnny, Shane and Kathy Lynch, and Anthony and Angela Arnold, and 12 great-grandchildren

EVELYN GRACE (CRUSE) ATKINS , age 77, of Camden, TN died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in Camden Healthcare. She was born April 3, 1930 to the late James H. and Minnie Wood Cruse. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother James H. Cruse, Jr. Mrs. Atkins is survived by her husband, Lawrence Atkins of Camden; daughters, Karen (Timothy) Anderson of Huntsville, AL, Jennifer (Brent) Hedge of Camden; sister, Louise Gray of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Anderson, Amanda Kathryn Anderson, John Samuel Hedge and Allison Kate Hedge. Mrs. Atkins was in the care of Oakdale Funeral Home in Camden. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 4, 2007, 1:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Camden, TN. Interment followed in the Camden City Cemetery.

R.W. AYRES fell dead … farm work which he was having done. He was a minister in the M. E. Church South and stood prominently in the lead of church progress in this circuit. He was a captain of a Confederate calvary company during the war between the states and struck some Herculean blows in behalf of the lost cause. Capt. Ayres was nearly 70 years old and one of our best known and most respected citizens.
