Whereas I have by heirship an interest in the following described tract of Land in the State of Tennessee Carroll County district No 8 on Ready Creek in Range 3 & section 3 & Entered on the 2nd day of April 1847 by James Rumley now deceased & bound as follows (Viz) Beginning on a Black Sum with pts, 31 poles west of the North East corner of occupant Entry No 776 for 100 acres in the name of Daniel Conder runs West with the North boundary of the same & ? his the West Corner in all 125 poles to a small black Oak with pointers thence North 124 poles to a small black oak with ptrs, thence East with the South boundary of Arthur Browns occupant in all 73 poles to a sassafras with pointers in the West Bank of Redy Creek thence up to creek with its Meanders? A south East direction 110 poles on a directly line to a small Spanish Oak with ptrs, on the West bank of said Creed thence South 16 poles to the beginning now for the Consideration of thirty dollars to me in hand paid I have bargained & sold & do hereby convey to Anthony Rumley all my interest in the above described land to have and to hold the same to him his heirs & assigns forever & do further Covenant & agree to warrant & defend the title to said land to the said A Rumley his heirs & assigns against the lawful claim of all persons whatever.

I James WILDER of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee acknowledge myself to owe and be indebted to E.A. MORGAN of said County in the sum of $1500.00 the condition of the above obligation is such that whereas I have this day bargained and sold unto said MORGAN a certain tract or body of land situated in the 11th Civil District of said County and lying about three miles in a N.W. direction from the town of Huntingdon and in what is known as the Forks of the Creeks said land being described as follows, to wit, Beginning at H.N. WARBRITTEN's N.W. corner running thence West 71 2/8 poles to James DEMASSER land thence North with DEMASSER land 240 poles to bank of ditch with two __ and one white oak pointers, thence East 71 2/3 poles to stake, thence South 240 poles to the beginning containing by estaimation 106 1/2 acres be the same more or less at $12.00 per acre making $1278.00 for and in consideration of which the said MORGAN has this day executed to me his six promissory notes for $218.00 each falling due respectively at 12-24-36-48-60 & 72 months from the 1st day of January 1888 at the rates of six percent. Now when said notes are paid off by said MORGAN & obligate myself in the sum of $1500.00 to make to him a good warranted deed to said described land but his sale and purchase is made with the following stipulations: that is to say if the said MORGAN fails to pay off and descharge said notes or any one of them when they fall due, then this sale my at my option be declared forfeited. It is further agreed between the said MORGAN and myself that I shall have and retain a lien on the products of said land for each year that the same may be occupied or holden by the said MORGAN to the extent of $100.00 and shall have the same right to enforce the collection thereof by attachment or otherwise as if the said MORGAN was my tenant. The interest being to retain and establish a rent charge upon said land to that extent. It is further agreed that if the said MORGAN should at any time be in arrears in paying off said notes but shall have paid to me more than at the rate of $100.00 dollars per year for the time he may have holden or occupied the same and I shall because of said __ occupant choose to declare the sale and purchase forfeited therein and in that event I agree upon said land being surrendered up to me to refund to said MORGAN the excuse of what he may have paid to me over and above $100.00 per year but without interest. It is further agreed that in the event that said payments are not made as they fall due and I should in consequence thereof declare this sale and purchase forfeited then and in that event after giving the said MORGAN 30 days notice in writing thereof he shall surrender to me the possession of said land and in case he fails to do so I shall have the same right of action against him as if he had been my tenant all the time.
(pg 312) The instruction of this contract being at my option to make the said MORGAN my tenant in the event of the non payment of all or one of said notes as they fall due nor am I required to give him __ other or further notice to quit. It is further agreed and understood that said MORGAN shall __ cut, use, sell, or destroy any timber on said land except such as it may be necessary to use on said farm in keeping the same in repair and for necessary firewood until he shall have paid off four of said notes. Know all men by these presents that we J.H.B. WOODWARD and wife N.J. WOODWARD of Huntingdon Tenn have this day bargained, sold & do hereby transfer and convey unto E.A. MORGAN of said town of Huntingdon Tenn for and in consideration of two hundred dollars payable as follows, one hundred dollars to be due Dec 25, 1901 & one hundred dollars to be due Dec 25th 1902 for which payments, notes are executed and delivered bearing date with this deed with interest at 6% per annum from date until paid a certain lot or parcel of land lying, being situated on Woodland Street in said town of Huntingdon beginning on the West margin of said Woodland Street at the Southeast corner of a lot owned by Jno F. NEELY and runs West with said NEELY's South line 186 feet to said NEELY's Southwest corner, thence South 96 feet more or less to the Northwest corner of a lot owned by Mrs M.E. GRIZZARD thence East with Mrs M.E. GRIZZARD's North line 186 feet to Woodland Street, thence North with West margain of Woodland Street 96 feet more or less to the beginning to have and to hold the same to said E.A. MORGAN his heirs and assigns forever. We covenant

MORGAN that we are lawfully seized and possessed of said lot of land have a good right to convey the same and that this unencumbered we further covenant and bind ourselves, our heirs and representatives to recover warrant and defend the title to the same against the lawful claim of all persons whomsoever. MORGAN to us on this day a receipt releasing all her claims of every kind and character in and to the estate both personal and real of her late husband J.J. MORGAN dec'd and in consideration of a deed conveying to us her entire interest in all the landed estate of her late husband J.J. MORGAN deceased do hereby sell and convey in fee simple to C.D. MORGAN the following parcel or tract of land it being in Decatur and Carroll Counties in the District of Decatur and in the 14th District of Carroll County and being known as the HAYNES tract of land it being "Q" the land which J.J. MORGAN died, seized and possessed of said land being bound and described as follows, to wit, on the NBorth by the lands of WOODS & WEBB on the East by the lands of BALLINGER or MORGAN heirs, on the South by the lands of Jack & James PRITCHARD on the Southwest by the BRODIE's Ferry road and PETTIGREW's land on the West by the lands of WEBB to have and to hold with all the appurtenances and interests thereto belonging except the white oak, post oak and poplar timber thereon all of which is retained by the bargainors and they are to have three years & three monts in which to cut and remove said above described timber and to have free access to all roads running in and across said land for the said space of three years and three months in order to remove said timber and to cut same and we covenant that we are lawfully seized and possessed of said land and that we have a lawful right to sell it and that it is not encumbered and that we will warrant and defend the title to the same against all persons whomsoever.

For and in consideration of the sum of one hundred seventy five ($175.00 dollars) to be paid for twelve months after date of this deed said deferred payment to be evidenced by two promisory notes bearing 6% interest from date, one of $150.00 and one for $25.00 and to secure and make certain the payment of said notes to a lien is hereby expressly retained on the land herein conveyed and herein after described we R.M. MURRAY, Joe MURRAY and Chas. MURRAY said notes are to be executed to R.M. MURRAY, Joe MURRAY & Chas. MURRAY jointly payable to either or bearer have bargained and sold and by these presents do transfer and convey unto E.A. MORGAN his heirs and assigns a certin tract or parcel of land in Carroll County, State of Tennessee as follows, a lot or parcel of land lying & being in the town of Huntingdon, Carroll Co Tennessee and being in what is known as "Baptist Ballow" and described as follows, Beginning at a stake on the S.W. corner of Mrs Mollie GRIZZARD's lot and runs in a western direction with the North margin of College St. 127 1/2 ft to a stake thence in a Northerly direction 214 feet to a stake on edge of branch, thence in an eastern direction 127 1/2 feet to MORGAN's and NEELEY's corner, thence in a Southernly direction with West line of MORGAN and GRIZZARD's 214 feet to the beginning, these lines are 127 1/2 one way & 214 feet the other. It is expressly agreed and understood that the said MORGAN is to pay a tax on this lot for the year 1908. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances, estate, title and interest therreto belonging to the said E.A. MORGAN, his heirs and assigns forever and we do covenant with the said MORGAN that we are lawfully seized and possessed of said land in fee simple, have a good right to conveyeth and the same is unencumbered. And we do further covenant and bind our heirs and representations to warrant and forever defend the title to said land to the said MORGAN his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. (pg 392) This indenture made this 20th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine between Alden GIFFORD of Boston and State of Massachusettes of the one part and John MORGAN of Carroll County and State of Tennessee of the other part, witnesseth that the said GIFFORD for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred and sixty dollars to him in hand paid by the said MORGAN, his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated, lying & being in the County of Carroll State of Tennessee containing six hundred & forty acres No. 858 Dist. 12, R 3, S1 - Beginning at the Southwest corner of John IRWIN's 226 acre survey thence running West with the Dist line crossing Rutherford fork of Obion and running to the right in all about three hundred & twenty poles to a stake with a dogwood, two maple & two white oak pointers at the West edge of the bottoms thence North crossing said fork two hundred & thirty six poles runs to the left in all three hundred & twenty poles to a stake with white oak pointers thence East passing the Southwest corner of Calvin JONES 2560 acre survey and with his South boundary line in all three hundred & twenty poles to a stake with two white oak, black jack & poplar pointers the Northwest corner of said John IRWIN's 226 acre survey, thence South with his West boundary line three hundred and twenty poles to the beginning to have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and sinular the rights, profits, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances, of & to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of the said MORGAN his heirs and assigns forever. And the said GIFFORD for his heirs, executors and administrators doth covenant and agree with the said MORGAN, his heirs or assigns that the before __ land and bargained premises he will warrant and forever defend against the right, title, interest or claim of all and every person whatsoever. MORGAN and his heirs forever for the consideration of six hundred dollars paid a certain tract or parcel of land in the State of Tennessee Carroll County and District No. 14 containing by estimation eighty four and two third acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows Beginning at a stake small black oak with two red oaks and hickory pointers the Southeast corner of A.G. HILL's 166 acre tract running South one hundred and twelve poles to the Southeast corner of the original Bartley YANCEY survey, thence West with the South boundary line of said survey one hundred and twenty and a half poles to a small hickory, two post oaks and hickory pointers, thence North one hundred and twelve poles to a double spanish oak, two black gums and a dogwood pointers, thence East one hundred twenty and a half poles to the Beginning being a part of a six hundred and forty acre survey in the name of Bartley YANCEY and conveyed by __ Commissioner for the heirs of F.G. BIRDWELL and by said BIRDWELL to me To have and to hold the same to the said Elijah C. MORGAN, his heirs and assigns forever I covenant with the said Elijah C. MORGAN that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it & that the same is unencumbered I do further covenant and bind myself, my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title of said land and bargained premises every part thereof to the said Elijah C. MORGAN, his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful of all persons whatever this 6th day of February 1854.

Apr 15, 1856 John MORGAN Admr of the Estate of Elihu LUCE, dec'd vs Thomas P. DANFORTH and his wife Lucretia and Victoria, William & Elihu LUCE, the last three minors - Petition to Sell Land
(pg 524) Be it remembered on this day came on this cause to be heard in the report of the Clerk & Master who was appointed to sell said land which report being filled and is unexcepted to and is in all things confirmed by which it appears that said Clerk & Master after duly advertising said land sold the same at the Courthouse door in Huntingdon when John MORGAN purchased the same at the price of one hundred & fifty dollars he being the last & best bidder and it appearing to the Court that said MORGAN is the administrator of said LUCE dec'd and said estate is insolvent. It is therefore ordered by the Court that said MORGAN pay the costs of this suit out of said fund & he pay the residue over to the creditors of said LUCE proratta and it is further ordered that the sale be confirmed & the title of said land be divested out of said heirs & vested in said MORGAN his heirs & assigns forever.
State of Tennessee Carroll County - I John NORMAN Clerk of the Circuit Court for said County do hereby certify that the foregoing is a correct transcript of the final decree in the case where said John MORGAN Admr of the estate of Elihu LUCE dec'd is petitioner and Thomas P. DANSFORTH & wife & others are defendants in a petition to sell land or the same remains now of record in my office. Given under my hand & seal this 15th April 1856.

(pg 380) Know all men by these presents that I Jesse T. PALMER of the first part have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey unto Albert G. MORGAN of the second part both of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars
(pg 381) to me in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged my entire interest in a tract of land owned by Lee PALMER dec'd and the same on which I now reside lying and being in Carroll County Civil District No. 12 and on the waters of Briar Creek and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning on a stake John B. ROBERTS South boundary line running East with said line 132 poles to a stake Wm HORTON's Southwest corner, thence North with said HORTON's line 243 poles to a dogwood, thence with W.G. PALMER's and DWIGGINS South boundary __ to the beginning containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less. I covenant with the said Albert G. MORGAN, his heirs and assigns that I am lawfully seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unincumbered. I further covenant and bind myself, heirs & to warrant and defend the title of the said land to the said A.G. MORGAN heirs & against the legal claims of all persons claiming through by or under me. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal this March 28th 1854.
