BANKS BURROW of McTyeire Institute spent last week at his home in Medina due to illness.
MARSH ATKISSON, associate editor of the Leader, went to Cincinnati on business.
MRS. W. H. MCKENZIE and MRS. G. W MCKENZIE and MISS GUSSIE returned from a business trip to Nashville.
SAM BLAKE and sister MISS MARY of Bethel College visited home folks near Paris.
MISS NANNIE PLUMMER returned from visiting relatives at St. Louis.
M. L. MCKENZIE and family returned from Indian Territory, having to give up his position due to bad health.
REV. R. C. DOUGLASS and REV. R. E. HOWELL of McTyeire preached for REV. J. H. JOHNSON at Hollow Rock and Rosser.
MRS. ELLA, MISS VOLLA, and HERBERT BARKSDALE went to attend the fair at Union City.
The students of McTyeire Institute were addressed by REV. W. J. MCCOY of Huntingdon and REV. H. B. JOHNSTON of Fulton.
NOEL COLLIER and JOHN RAMSEY weakened Wednesday when they heard the republican vote in New York.
We are sorry to announce that MRS. JOHN PATE of the 22nd district was stuck with paralysis last Monday night, losing the power of speech.
The Methodist pulpit here was filled by REV. V. W. ADAMS of Henning Station and REV. H. B. JOHNSON of Fulton, Kentucky.
GUY HALL has taken the agency here for MCEWEN Steam Laundry. He has his office at CURTIS Brothers Drug Store and will give prompt attention to all goods entrusted t him.
Our genial friend JNO. D. HERRON has accepted a position as traveling salesman for MAY & VAUGHTER of New Orleans. We congratulate them in securing his service as he is a very fine salesman.
The residence of WILL DINWIDDIE on Magnolia street was broken into last Sunday night, however, the rascals received nothing as the family returned before anything was taken.
DR. W. S. ALLEN, late of this place, now of Crawfordville, Arkansas, returned home last Sunday to vote and to visit his family. He reports everything is on a boom in Arkansas and expects to make it his home.

MAYOR LITTLE didn’t step down and out at the biddings of the Tri-County News and Republican correspondents of this place.
ERNEST HAWKINS of Washington spent a day at the ATKISSON house. He was on his way to Huntington to visit relatives and friends.
DR. MEYER of Danville, Kentucky, father of OSCAR MEYER, of this place, shipped a car load of Jersey cows and Berkshire hogs to Dallas, Texas last Saturday.
REVS. T. W. CANNON and J. H. CURRY, DR. W. W. HENDRIX, W. E. SPEAR, WILL NEW, and JAMES BURNS attended presbytery at Sharon last Friday.
What is to be said about Sunday mail? It is much needed here, and we can’t see why JOHN WANNAMAKER would care, if we all go to Sunday school.
While at work on a building for N. C. SWEARENGIN last Tuesday, the scaffold fell with JOHN HALEY, throwing him on some timbers and seriously hurting him.
S. Z. MILLER, constable of the 12th district of Weakley County, was here on business Tuesday. Mr. Miller’s friends are urging him to make the race for sheriff of his county. He has the right kind of stuff in him to make one of the best officers in the state.
We learn that J. W. MLUNT, who graduated in law at Lebanon nearly two years ago, after practicing his profession about a year in Texas, has abandoned his chosen profession, commenced teaching this fall in Mississippi and during the presbytery at Sharon, he was taken under its care and licensed at once to preach.
McKenzie needs a park for the various summer gatherings so that all can be made comfortable. … In a grove just this side of JOHN SNEED’s is a plat for ground that would make a beautiful park…

ANDY PROVINCE is having an elegant two story residence built on a lot adjoining CLINT HAYNES.
MRS. WEBB HENDRIX of Anadarko, Indian Territory arrived to visit her mother MRS. HARRIS.
AUGUST HOLENQUEST has been in Huntingdon for several days to be with his son who is very sick.
MARSH ATKISSON has a new heir. It is a boy, born Thursday of last week and Marsh has been all smiles since its advent.
MISS MATTIE SPELLINGS of Buena Vista, after a visit with her sister MRS. DR. E. M. EVERETT, returned home.
MISSES CARPA PERRY and SOPHIE YOUNG passed through our town on their way to visit friends and relatives at Clinton, Kentucky.
MISS INDIA GILL, a charming young miss of Memphis, is stopping with her aunt MRS. INDIA SCOTT. She will attend school at Bethel College.
MISS MAMIE DUKE of Milan is visiting relatives and friends here and a certain young man from Milan was seen here Sunday.
CARL FINCH and sister, MRS. JIM WALTERS, left for Oklahoma City where Mrs. Walters will join her husband who is in business at that place.
On last Thursday evening the Moon changed and got Wright. JAMES WRIGHT and Mrs. Moon were united in life’s voyage. May true happiness be theirs.

DR. T. W. PRATT is having a neat residence built in the west part of town.
MRS. JENNIE WOODS of Huntingdon is visiting relatives here.

CHARLES BRYANT and daughter MISS DELIA of Rector, Arkansas are visiting relatives here.
Most of the windows have been placed in the C. P. church and they are simply beautiful.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. FRANK HUNTER last Sunday a fine girl. Frank says with the assistance of the newcomer, he can celebrate Christmas in grand style.
WALTER MCDONALD, who is serving as brakeman on the L. & N. railroad, while on duty at Jones near Brownsville, had his foot badly mashed.
ATKINS CONYERS arrived last week from Colorado with a carload of ponies. Mr. Conyers is a fine jolly fellow but we protest his reciprocity plan of bringing ponies to and taking out of this community.
A Baptistry is being built by the congregation of the Baptist Church. The Baptists never make any great noise, but when they decide to do anything, they are most generally prepared to put the undertaking through without much ado.
Santa Claus make take notice that McKenzie needs a public hall, a steam laundry, a good flouring mill, the public square graveled, an ax handle factory, our planing mill enlarged, a first class newspaper, and a rousing Democratic club.

W. F. SCATES, who has been doing an undertaking business at McKenzie for some time, made an assignment… E. E. PATE is named as trustee… Mr. Scates field a deed of trust on a house and lot in McKenzie, naming R. M. STOFFLE as trustee to secure a couple of notes in favor of his son A. B SCATES for about $345 and the other in favor of W. H. SARTOR for about $112.
