POLK LANE - In Carroll county, Tenn., Polk Lane, while hunting, fell and was fatally shot.

MARGARET (HERRON) LANSDEN was born at Lavinia, Carroll Conty, April 15, 1856, and died September 2, 1920, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.L. Noel, in Lexington where she made her home for the past two years. She was the widow of the late R.D. (Rufus Delaney) Lansden, former sheriff of Carroll County and had been a teacher in the Madison County schools for several years, after which for the past seven years, she had been employed by the government in Home Demonstration work. Mrs. Lansden was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her death was the result of complications of diseases thought to be attributed to a fall she received on the streets of Jackson about 4 years ago. She is survived by two brothers, M.F. (Milton) Herron, Nashville and Tom Herron, Trezevant; one sister, Mrs. J.B. (Elvira) Townes of Jackson; three daughters, Miss Opal Lansden of Jackson; Mrs. J.W. Swink Jr., Ardmore OK and Mrs. W.L. (Mary) Noel of Lexington, and one son R.D. (Rufus) Lansden of Ardmore, OK. The burial took place at Atwood, Carroll County.

FLOSSIE LONGMIRE , 59, died at Madison County General Hospital in Jackson on March 10. Services were held at Davis Chapel Church on March 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Hillary Robbins and Rev. Clarence F. Carter officiating. Burial was in Hampton Cemetery with Dilday Funeral Home in charge. She was a member of the Davis Chapel Methodist Church and lived at Route 4, Huntingdon. Survivors include her husband, Charlie L. Longmire, a brother, Jesse Hugh Miller of Atwood; 3 sisters, Mrs. Calvin Stewart, Mrs. Wiley Longmire and Mrs. Wilmer Smith, all of Hungtingdon.

JOHN WILLIAM LOONEY , son of James F. Looney of the 22nd district, while feeding a cotton gin belonging to McDonald & Co of Weakley County last Monday, had both his arms fearfully mangled from which he died in a few hours. He was about 21 years old, a clever, promising young man, and his sad fate is regretted by a large circle of friends and relatives. He was buried at Blooming Grove graveyard .

KENNETH LOWE - Services for Kenneth Lowe were Saturday March 14, 2009 at Bruceton Funeral Home. Interment followed at Hebron Meth. Church Cemetery near Bruceton. He was preceded by a brother, Charles Lowe. Mr. Lowe, a retired truck driver, age 60, died March 12, 2009 at his daughter's home in Hollow Rock. He is survived by three daughters, Tabitha Rogers, Hollow Rock, Mary Willis AR, Sandy Thompson, Hollow Rock; one sister, Louise Woods, Wildersville; two brothers, Edward Lowe, Huntingdon and Donald, Wildersville; eight grandchildren.

SARAH LYNN - The funeral services of Mrs. SARAH LYNN, wife of J. H. LYNN, were conducted at Vanoss, Monday, by Rev. J. A. GRIMES of the Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a devoted member. Mrs. Lynn was a little past 58 years of age, having been born in Carroll County, Tennessee, Feb. 9, 1866. She and her husband had lived happily together more than 40 years and to this union 10 children were born, eight of whom survive. Mrs. Lynn accepted the Savior when 18 years years of age and lived a consistent Christian life.
