BARBARA (PRATER) SEAGRAVES
- Funeral services for Mrs. Seagraves, age 56, are scheduled for 1:00 Thursday March 4, 2010 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Yuma with Bro. John D. Small officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope cemetery. Pafford Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge. Mrs. Seagraves passed away early Monday in Lexingtion. She was born Sept. 18, 1953 and was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope. She was preceded by one brother, Tommy Prater and one grandchild. SUrvivors include her husband Tim Seagraves of Lexington; two sons, Michael Cupples (Jana) of Huron and Timothy Seagraves of Lexington; her daughter Amy Daniels (Jon) of Clarksville; her father Bill Prater of Parsons; her mother Nadine Prater of Lexington; a brother Mike Prater of Lexington; a sister Shelia James ofMt. Juliet and three grandchildren.
JOE SELLERS
- News reached us here last Wednesday that JOE SELLERS of the 24th district had died the night before. Mr. Sellers is quite an old man and has been sick for some time with typhoid fever. He is one of seven brothers who constituted rather a remarkable family. The youngest of these brothers is over 60 years old and this is first brother to die. They have lived to ripe old age and only a short time ago, the seven had their pictures taken in a group, which formed an interesting group. Mr. Sellers stood well in his community and his death is regretted by a host of friends and relatives. His remains were laid to rest in the Sellers graveyard last Wednesday.
MAXINE (PETERS) SIKES
- Services for Mrs. Maxine Peters Sikes, age 76, are scheduled for 1 pm Wednesday January 13, 2010 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Bro. Randall Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery in Carroll Co.
Mrs. Sikes passed away Jan. 9, 2010 at her home in Lexington. She was born 31 Jul 1933 in Pine Knob, West. VA. She was a homemaker. She was preceded by her father Mr. Troy Peters and husband Harold D. Sikes.
Survivors include her three sons, Eric (Kim) Sikes, Mark (Brenda) Sikes, and Tim (Jane) Sikes all of Lexington, her daughter Lisa (Layne) Hart of Lexington, her mother, Barbara Peters of Beckley, WV; two brothers Eugene (Polly) and Gary (Dovie) Peters of Beckley, WV; her sister, Charlotte (Bob) Elkins of Beckley WV; four grandchildren; her brother-in-law Bob Churchwell and five nieces and five nephews.
JOHNNIE M. SMOTHERS
, 89, of Huntingdon, were at 2 p.m. Friday at Dilday Funeral Home with the Rev. O.R. Meggs officiating. Burial was in Davis Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Smothers, a retired farmer, died Monday night at a Memphis nursing home after a long illness. He was a native of Carroll County and a member of Davis Chapel Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clarnece Lettgen of Houston; a son, Dorian Smothers of Memphis; a sister, Eula Mallard of Huntingdon; and three grandchildren.
LOLAR MILLER SMOTHERS
- Services for Mrs. Lolar Miller Smothers, 70, were held December 2, 1982 at 2:30 p.m. at Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. O.R. Meggs and Rev. Steve Mischke officiating. Burial was in Davis Chapel Cemetery. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge. Mrs. Smothers died Nov. 30, 1982 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church. Her parents were Charles Miller and Lonnie Hollowell Miller. She is survived by her husband, J.M. Smothers; a daughter, Mrs. Clarice S. Leitgen of Katy, TX., a son, Dorian K. Smothers of Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. Lorene Cunningham and Mrs. Luna Williams, both of Huntingdon; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Robb and Christopher Leitgen of Katy, TX. Pallbearers were Robb Leitgen, Jimmy, Harold, & J.C. Miller, David and James Townsend.
