CARL DAVIS - Funeral services for Carl Davis, 54, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Henderson (Chester Co TN) with the Rev. John E. Stavly, pastor of the Malesus MEthodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Enville. Mr. Davis was dead on arrival at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis early Sunday.He had been in ill health for the past two years.

He was born in Chester County, son of the late John and Dovie Cherry Davis. He attended Chester County schools, and moved to Jackson in 1938 where he was employed as a city buss driver. He entered the Navy in 1944, and returned to Jackson following his discharge. He was employed with a supermarket until his retirement due to failing health in 1969. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ruth Thomas Davis of Memphis; a son, Woody Davis of Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. Tela Davis of Memphis, Mrs. Dian Horne of Germany, and Miss Judy Davis of Jackson; a stepdaughter Mrs. Betty Ryder of Memphis; a brother, Bruce Davis of Jackson; three grandsons. Pallbearers are Otis Davis, Sam Watlington, Fred Robertson, Wayne Robertson, Walton Peters and Eric Bell. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. today.

DOVIE (CHERRY) DAVIS - Funeral services for Mrs. Dovie Esterlee Davis, 75, were Monday, March 11, 1967 at Morgan Funeral Home with Rev. W.T. Jackson of Murray KY and Rev. Edwin Dyer, pastor of Enville Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Enville Cemetery with Morgan in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davis died Saturday at the Jackson General Hospital where she had been a patient for three days. She was born in Chester COunty, the daughter of the Late S.C. and Boadie Austin Cherry. She wsa married to John Davis in 1916. They had made their home in Enville most of her life. She was a member of the Enville Baptist Church. In addition to her husband she leaves two sons, Carl of Henderson and Bruce of Jackson, and three brothers, Edd Cherry and Homer Cherry of Enville and Tom Cherry of Henderson, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

JOHN CALVIN DAVIS - 80, died Sunday night (1 December 1968) at the Chester County Nursing Home, where he had been a patient for the past 18 months. He was a member of the Enville Baptist Church. Mr. Davis wsa born and reared in Chester County and had lived most of his life here. He was married to Dovie Cherry and she died in 1967

Surviving are two sons, Carl Davis of Memphis and Bruce Davis of Jackson; three brothers, Jim Davis of Greenville KY, Eddie Davis of san Jose CA and Dossie Davis of Memphis; three half brothers, Hartwell Davis and Clyde Davis both of Memphis and Otis Davis of Enville; two sisters Mrs. Tilda Ann Beecham of Lexington adn Mrs. Mattie Dees of Memphis; a half sister Mrs. Nell Wright of Union City; t grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon at Morgan Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Smith adn Rev. O.E. Roseberry officiating. Burial wsa in Enville cemetery with Morgan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
