Mackness Rowlett
Will of MACKNESS ROWLETT, deceased Claiborne County, state of Tennessee
I, Mackness Rowlett, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being
of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament in
manner and form following, that is to say.
First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Nancy Rowlett, all of my lands,
messuage or tenements situated, lying and being in the state and county above
written, to be used by her as seemeth right during her natural life, and at her
death it is my will and desire that all of my said lands be equally divided
between my beloved wife’s two youngest daughters, Anna Brooks, Lorry Ann C.
Brooks and Zachariah P. Brooks, all of my own children, viz, John H. Rowlett,
Joseph Rowlett, Elisabeth Brooks and Jane Estes or their heirs having heretofore
had all that portion of my estate which I designed for them.
And lastly, as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate,
goods and chattels of what kind and nature soever, I give and bequeath the same
to my said beloved wife Nancy Rowlett, whom I hereby appointed sole Executrix of
this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In
witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of May one
thousand eight hundred and forty-eight. Test: Reuben Mason Luke Parker Robert
