Born at McKenzie, Carroll County, c.1912; son of John J. and Clyde (McCracken) Boaz Attended public schools and McTyere Preparatory School at McKenzie. Married at Parsons, Decatur County, Aug. 17, 1935, to Bobby Laster, daughter of Bob and Rachel Laster; children Rachel Annette, Tim David, and Joe Phillip. Proprietor of Boaz Furniture and Hardware Co., Parsons, at least through 1963; had lived earlier at McKenzie, where he was member board of alderman, 1932-34; commissioner of finance for Parsons, 1941-45; mayor of Parsons, 1950-54. Member United Methodist Church and on board of stewards; member Free and Accepted Masons; Order of the Mystic Shrine. Residence (1965),217 Camden Road, Parsons.
