Raymond C. Townsend
Born in Decatur County TN August 21, 1902; postmaster at Parson, TN; Scotch-Irish; married Sophia Malin, Aug. 9, 1932; son of E.M. Townsend and Cordelia Estelle Harrison; father's occupation a farmer; paternal grandparents; George Townsend and Elizabeth Cottrell Townsent; maternal grandparents; Elisha Harrison.

Attended the public schools of Decatur COunty; East TN State Teachers College; and Union University. A member of the Baptist Church and a Deacon; Democratic Party. Mr. Townsend was appointed Postmaster at Parsons June, 1934, by Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt. He has made a most efficient postmaster and is well liked by all the patrons of his office. He is one of 11 children. He takes an active interest in all civic affairs which tend to better his community. He has taught school in the public schools of Tenn. for 6 years. He served as revenue commissioner of Decatur County fo 3 years; Board of Aldermen of Parsons, Tenn., for 2 years.. His hobby is hunting.
