JAMES J. WARREN
(1840 - 1914) - HOUSE, 44th General Assembly, 1885-87; representing Decatur, Lewis, and Perry counties; Democrato Born in Humphreys County Feb. 18, 1840; son of Albert and Elizabeth Warren, natives of Virginia. Attended "common schools" and secondary school afc-'Taverly, all in Humphreys County; attended college in Carroll County; Medical College at Louisville, Ky=; graduated in medicine, 1871, from University of Nashville, Davidson County. Married in Decatur County Nov. 2, 1873, to Heeldy E. Reynolds -- one source says M. E. Reynolds; one daughter — Sarah E. Dr. Warren was practicing medicine at Bath Springs, Decatur County, while in legislature. One J. J. Warren was in Confederate army, but not certain it was subject; that J. J. Warren enlisted at Huntingdon, Carroll County, Nov. 23, 1861; as pvt., Co. H, 55th (Brown's) Tenn. Inf.; captured by Federals at Island No. 10, Apr. 20, 1862; sent as prisoner of war to Camp Randall, Madison, Wis., May 13, 1862; transferred to Camp Douglas, 111.,, Aug. 1, 1862, and was at that prison on Septo 4, 1862; no further record of military service found. Date of death and place of burial not determined.
