JACKSON LANDON WHITE
(1881 - 1944) - HOUSE, 64th General Assembly, 1925-27;representing Decatur and Benton counties; Democrat, Born at Decaturville, Decatur County, June 4, 1881; son of Robert Alexander and Fannie (Dickerson) White. Attended "common schools"; studied law. First married in Decatur County Mar. 18, 1902, to Dora Wheat, daughter of Henry Wheat; she died Mar. 6, 1907, leaving one son — Jackson Landon, Jr. second marriage, date and place not indicated, to Miss Welch, daughter of George Welch; three children by this marriage -- Watson, Geraldine, and Russell. Practiced law at Decaturville/secretary and treasurer of Decatur County National Farm Loan Ass'n. Elected, 1902, circuit court clerk of Decatur County; county judge; appointed postmaster at Decaturville, 1914; secretary of county election commission, 1924; member Democratic committee for congressional district, 1912. Member Methodist Church; Free and Accepted Masons; Woodmen of the World; president, 1921, of state branch of National League of Postmasters. Died at Jackson, Madison County, Mar. 13, 1944; buried in Concord Cemetery, Decatur County.
