JAMES E. HAGGARD - Services for James E. Haggard were Sunday at Parsons Mortuary. Burial followed in Yellow Springs Cemetery. Mr. Hazzard, age 73, died April 7, 2011 at Jackson Hospital. He is survived by two sons, Jim Haggard, Holladay and David E. Haggard, CA; one brother Rubin Haggard, CO; two sisters, Juanita Griffin and Patsy Ann Walts and three grandchildren.

MELANIE DIANE HAGGARD - Services for Melanie Diane Haggard age 32, are scheduled Wednesday Jan. 5, 2010 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Burial following in Lone Chestnut Cem. LORENE HAYNES - Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Haynes, age 79, of Parsons, were held Thursday, January 6 in the chapel of Decatur County Funeral Home. Internment will follow in Cub Creek Hall Cemetery . Mrs. Haynes died Tuesday January 4 at Decatur County General Hospital . She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Haynes; and a son, Larry Haynes. Survivors include two sons, Darrell Haynes of Columbus , MS and Harold Haynes of Franklin , TN ; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

MILFORD HAYNES - Services for Milford N. Haynes, 74, retired farmer, were today at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Rayburn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Parsons Mortuary in charge. Mr. Haynes died Sunday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Linnie Haynes of Parsons; two sons, Raymond Haynes and Milburn Haynes, both of Holladay; four daughters, Mrs. Lillian Quinn and Mrs. Mabel Johnson, both of Parsons, Mrs Mary Lou Brewer of Wildersville and Mrs Wilburn Bawcum of Holladay; two brothers, Millard Haynes and Alvia Haynes, both of Huntingdon; two sisters, Mrs Nealie Greenway of Parsons and Mrs. Alice Taylor of Castro Valley, Calif; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

BERNICE HAYS - Services for Bernice Hays were Friday at Parsons Mortuary. Burial in Yellow Springs Cem. Mrs. Hays, age 76, died Jan. 13, 2011 at Jackson Madison Co. She was preceded by her husband H.R. Hays, one sons, Harrison Hays and one grandchild. Survivors include one son, William Hays, Holladay; three daughters, Rita Cagle and Kathy Hays both of Holladay and Etta J. Mallard, Dyersburg and eight grandchildren.

THOMAS NEWTON HAYS , 77, farmer, died Monday at Decatur County General Hospital after a heart attack. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Brewer Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Long, Ivey and Carrington Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Hays, the husband of Gladys Lomax Hays, also leaves two daughters, Denise Montgomery of Bath Springs and Vicki Hammett of Westport; a brother, Paul Hays of Scotts Hill, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

HELEN (KEETON) HEARINGTON - Services for Helen Keeton Hearington were at Decaturville First United Methodist CHurch Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 with burial following in Keeton Cemetery near Bath Springs. Mrs. Hearington, age 86 of Bath Springs TN, died Friday Feb. 4, 2011 at Westwood Manor, Decaturville. She was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Lafferty and Dorothy Blankenship and brothers, Charles & Billy Keeton as well as her parents, Bedford and Ora (Duck) Keeton. She was a retired school teacher and was widow of Kenny Hearington. Helen is survived y two sisters, Marjorie Fiddler of Lexington; Sue Reynolds of Jackson; two brothers Bryan Keeton of Bath Springs; Donald Keeton of Greensboro NC.

JAMES HIGDON - Services for James Higdon, 53, a retired Parsons policeman, were at 2 p.m. today at the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Paul Shell officiating. Burial was in Hope Well Cemetery. Mr. Higdon died early Tuesday at the Perry County Hospital at Linden after a short illness. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Geraldine Higdon of Decaturville; three sons, Walter James Higdon of Decaturville, William Higdon and Jerry Higdon both of Pineview; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Higdon of Parsons; four brothers, Ott Higdon and Perry Higdon, both of Parsons, Randolph Higdon of Decaturville, and Henry B. Higdon of Memphis; four sisters, Mrs. Lunell Moore, Mrs. Opal Garrett and Mrs. Zula Brewer all of Parsons and Miss Pat Higdon of Florida.

NORA B. HIGDON - Services for Nora B. Higdon, 95, were today at Parsons Mortuary. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery. Mrs. Higdon, a homemaker, died Sunday at Decatur County General Hospital. She was married to Will Higdon. They had seven children, Perry Higdon, Henry Higdon, Opal Garrett, Zula Brewer, and Nell Moore, all of Parsons, Randolph Higdon of Decaturville, and Pat Higdon of Nashville.

JOSEPH H. HIGHFILL JR , age 52 of Parsons TN died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Decatur County Gen. Hospital. He was a retired LTC with the US Army and was an operation and intelligence analyst with Northrop Grumman. He is survived by his father Joseph H. Highfill, Sr., of Decaturville, a sister, Patti Fisher of Scotts Hill. He was predeceased by his mother Martha Clark Highfill. Joseph H. Highfill Jr. wished to be donated to Medical science for study.

MAC NEVA HILL - Services for Ms. Mac Neva Hill, age 83, were Thursday August 19, 2010 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery - Midtown, Memphis. Ms.Hill passed away on Tuesday at her home in Scotts Hill. She was born February 19, 1927 in Decatur County to the late Claude Marion and Pearl Tucker Thompson. She was a retired employee of BellSouth. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile, actively involved until her heath failed. Survivors include her son, Marvin Douglas Hill Jr. and wife Charity of Cordove, her companion MR. William Pearce of Scotts Hill, two brothers, Claude Thompson Jr. and Jerry Kirby of Scotts Hill and a sister Deloris Kirby of Atlanta Ga.

Deceased was a daughter of the late Dr. W.G. Rains and is survived by her mother, whose maiden name was Miss Joan Parker and was reared in Henderson County. She was a member of the Southern Methodist Church.

JOE E. HOUSTON , 68, of Trumann AR, died Saturday May 17, 2008 at St. Bernards Med. Ctr in Jonesboro. He was born in Parsons TN and had lived in Trumann for the past 1 1/2 years. He was a retired cutting room supervisor for Salant and Salant, an avid outdoorsman and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Houston wa spreceded by his parents Roy and Martha Knight Houston, two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wief, Caroline Houston of the home, two daughters, susy Houston of Parsons and Amy Karrigan of Allen TX; three sisters, Georgia Mae Woods ofMaywood IL; Lucille Kindle of Parsons and Patsy Reeves of Darden TN; two grandchildren, Madison Karriagan and McKenna Karrigan. OLEN RAY HOUSTON , 103, of Parsons, passed away Monday, November 14, 2005 at Decatur County Manor. Mr. Houston was born on July 21, 1902 in the Bear Creek Community were he has lived most of his life. He was the son of the late William Elbert and Zenetta Elnora (Duke) Houston. He was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church for over 93 years, served as a deacon for over 74 years, has served as Sunday School Director, Church Clerk, Music Director, and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Houston worked most of his life at Salant and also farmed. He served years as a Decatur County Magistrate and two terms as Decatur Co. Register of Deeds. He is survived by his wife, Lura Mae (Rhodes) Houston whom he married Jan. 12, 1935. Daughters Johnnye Sue (Irvin) Baldwin of Parsons and Kay Sibert of Parsons; sons Glen Houston of Parsons, Dewey Houston of Milan., C.L. (Alice) Houston of Parsons, TN., and Vance (Gloria) Houston of Ohio; brother Carmen Houston of Oak Ridge; Daughter-in-law Dorthy (Hays) Houston of Paris. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James Ray Houston, a daughter, Dorothy Horton, by a brother, Royce Houston, a sister, Clois Wood, by one grandson and one great grandson. Service were held at Bear Creek Baptist Church, Parsons, TN. on Thursday, November 17, with Brother Mike Hollaway and Brother Raymond Hollaway officiating.

Mrs. Howell, age 95, died June 16, 2010 at Decatur County General Hospital.
