NANCY JANE (DENNISON) McCALL was born in Decatur County TN 21 May 1833 and as Mrs. Andrew McCall, passed to the Great Beyond at her home near Chesterfield, this county at 7 o'clock a.m. January 20, 1909. Mrs. McCall was of the Primitive Baptist belief and when her mortal remains were laid to rest in the McCall Cemetery family burial ground in the sign of the home, the funeral was conducted by Elder Tom Sisson and friend Lafayette Walker. Our subject was happily married in 1849 to Andrew McCall who died January 31, 1902. To this union eight children were born, all of whom survive except one son, Joe, who died several years ago. When the Death Angel came to claim the aged and beloved mother, all the surviving children were present except Kittie (Mrs. G. W. Smith) was was too ill to leave her home. No woman was ever blessed with a more devoted husband and children than was Aunt Jane McCall. Her departed husband who spent a married life of 53 years in the same community, was known always not only as a man of unimpeachable character, but as one who advised and acted the part of the peace on earth and good will toward men. Her sons and daughters have been peculiarly devoted and to Tom, the elder who lived with her, Curry, of Jackson and George of Lexington, we can point as sons who never failed in the duty to mother. The daughters, Mrs. R.W. McKelvey, Mrs. J.A. Bray, Mrs. G.W. Smith and Miss Minnie were as constant, unfaltering and loving in their devotion as were the sons. Of the surviving brothers and sisters, C.P. Dennison of Decaturville, Mrs. Eliza McCall, of near Mifflin, Mrs. Minerva Priddy, of this county, and Mrs. Mary Brewer of Yuma, none were present except C.P. Dennison. In paying this last tribute to Aunt Jane, we can say that she was in every particular a most estimable woman - a well rounded last tribute to Aunt Jane, we can say that she was in every particular a most estimable woman - a well rounded character that could not fail to leave its imprint for good on the community where she had lived nine years beyond the allotted three score and ten. We doubt not that her should has found a well-earned rest with the God who gave it.
