W. TATE - A VERY GENEROUS MAN
Mr. W. TATE, of Granger County, Tennessee, is a great philanthropist and noble hearted man. He has divided $20,000 of his own savings among his one-legged and one-armed ex-confederate comrades of East Tennessee. The division was made at Morristown on the 18th and 41 maimed veterans got nearly $500 a piece. A greater and more disinterested charity was never recorded. Mr. TATE’S name, like Ben Adhem’s will shine conspicuously in the lead of those who are recorded in the book of life. – [Birmingham Age Herald]
