Ewing Jackson Harris

Attorney at law; born at Sylvia, Tenn., March 17, 1901; Scotch-Irish descent; married to Lena Sue Hartman, March 28, 1931; son of John C., farmer, and Sarah Frances (Walker) Harris; paternal grandparents Henry and (___) (Harding) Harris; maternal grandparents Zacariah and Manerva (Houston) Walker. Educated in the public schools of Dickson County; Cumberland University; LL.B. degree 1928. Democrat; Mason; Jr.O.U.A.M.; Phi Beta Sanna, legal fraternity. Has been engaged in the practice of law at Boliver since his graduation from law school; enjoys a large practice in Hardeman and adjoining counties; was elected to the Seventieth General Assembly of Tennessee from the 26th Senatorial Dist. composed of the counties of Benton, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, and McNairy; in this service was a staunch supporter of the policies of Gov. Gordon Browning. He is the father of two children, Francis Ann and Marjorie Sue.
