BASS, LEROY - Middleton – Services for LeRoy Bass, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar. Burial will be in the Reaves Cemetery near Middleton. Mr. Bass, retired from Amira Corp. in Bolivar, died Sunday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital of heart failure.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Bass of Middleton; a daughter and son, Norma Sue Russell of Middleton and Ronnie Lee Bass of Rossville; seven sisters, Dessie Vickers, Faye Voles and Francis Howell, all of Middleton, Virginia Johnson of Hubbard, Texas, Betty Phillips and Mae Weathersbee, both of Bolivar, and Linda Kay Stewart of Toone; and three brothers, Olion Bass of Middleton, William Earl Bass and Travis Bass, both of Bolivar. He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers, Helen Watridge, Dell Bass, Robert Bass, Bobby Bass and Delbert Bass.

BEECHAM, RUBY COOKSEY ERVIN - Services for Ruby Ervin Beecham were held on Friday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Pentecostal with Earl Presley officiating. Burial followed at Walnut Grove.
Ms. Beecham, age 79, died on Tuesday, July 8 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hill Pentecostal Church.
She is preceded in death by her husbands Ben Ervin and Lloyd Beecham; father Albert Cooksey; two daughters Lou Ann Ervin and Terrie Wasmundt; three brothers Claude, Olan and Paul Cooksey and one grandson.
Survivors include two daughters Shriley Dixon of Saulsbury, Nancy Nichols of Lexington, Kentucky; one son Frank Ervin of Middleton; one brother, Clarence Cooksey of Bolivar; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Forest Hill Pentecostal Church.

HENLEY, James Patrick - SOMERVILLE - JAMES PATRICK HENLEY, 46, of Heber Springs, Ark., formerly of Somerville, truck driver for Wood Haulers Inc. in Heber Springs, Ark., died Tuesday after an accident in his truck. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery near here. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church near here. Mr. Henley leaves two daughters, Cori Lynn Henley of Somerville and Shelby Larae Henley of Heber Springs; two sons, James Glenn Henley of Collierville and Christopher Henley of Somerville; a stepdaughter, Casey George, and a stepson, Brandon George, both of Heber Springs; his mother, Clara Henley of Somerville; three sisters, Janice Faye Lax of Youngtown, Ariz., and Brenda Joyce Henson and Linda Lois Kirkland, both of Whiteville; and two brothers, Jerry Henley of Somerville and Perry Henley of Pontotoc, Miss.

SPARKMAN, Will R., , 74, retired Dallas funeral director, died Saturday at his home at Bolivar, Tenn. He was the father of Louis N. Sparkman, partner of Sparkman-Brand, Inc., Dallas funeral home, and Hal C. Sparkman of Dallas, who is serving with a machine-gun company in the Canadian army, somewhere in England. Other survivors include his wife, his mother, Mrs. Ann Sparkman, and two brothers and three sisters, all of whom reside in Tennessee. Mr. Sparkman began his career as a mortician when he was 17 years old at Jackson, Tenn., and he came to Dallas in 1920, beginning business under the name of Loudermilk-Sparkman with George W. Loudermilk. At one time, Mr. Sparkman served on the Tennessee board of embalming, and he was widely known in the profession. Ten years ago Mr. Sparkman retired from business, and moved back to Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at Bolivar at 10 a.m., Monday with burial there.
