Wills, estate and probate records are a very valuable tools for researching family history. These records most often will produce the children's names of the decedent, sometimes grandchildren's names and usually the wife's name. In some cases, land is given to heirs. In the case of a contested will, other records associated with the decedent and his heirs and other indivuduals are created. Don't overlook records associated with a family member's death!
