ALFRED ALEXANDER ABERNATHY - Services for Alfred Alexander Abernathy were Friday at Pafford Funeral Home with burial in Independence Cemetery. Mr. Abernathy, who was 87, died Wednesday at Decatur County General Hospital. He was a retired farmer and school teacher. He was the widower of Mrs. Mamie Twyman Abernathy. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Zora Abernathy of Lexington.

MAMIE A. (TWYMAN) ABERNATHY - Services for Mrs. Mamie Twyman Abernathy, 74, were Monday, at Pafford Funeral Home with ministers Charles Tharp, Everett Hufford and Billy Ringo officiating. Burial was in Independence Cemetery. Mrs. Abernathy, a retired sales clerk, died Saturday afternoon at Lexington Methodist Hospital. She was a native of West Va. had lived many years in the Lexington area as was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, Alfred A. Abernathy of Lexington; a brother, Everett Twyman of New Martinsville, W. Va.; and a sister, Miss Amanda Twyman of Lexington. Pallbearers were Odean Anderson, Larry McGarett, Alvis Taylor, Ewell Usery, Harold Tyler, Wylie Evans and Lyle Gurley.

ZORA CATHERINE ABERNATHY, 95, died at Humphrey's County Nursing Home, May 10, 2004. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 12, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. The funeral will follow at 1 PM in the chapel with burial at Independence Cemetery. Joe Vandyke, Magnolia Church of Christ, Florence, Al. will officiate. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.N, and Sally Sweet Abernathy and brothers David and Alfred Abernathy. She is survived by and was lovingly cared for by a niece Sarah Bell, McEwen, Tn. and nephews Johnny Abernathy, Florence, Al.,Sam Abernathy, Dickson, Tn. and Bill Abernathy, Columbia Tn. Miss Abernathy, born July 15,1908, lived all of her life in west Tn. She was a member of the Broad St. Church of Christ. Known as a fun loving neighbor and friend, she never met a stranger. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staffs of Green Oaks Inn Assisted Living of Florence Al. and Humphrey's County Nursing home of Waverly, Tn. for their excellent care and devotion to our Aunt Zora.
