HUBERT CALHOUN - Services for Mr. Hubert Calhoun, 85, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Ocotber 15, 2008 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Henderson County Memory Gardens. Mr. Calhoun died Monday in Jackson. He was a retired manager for Arnolds Fried Chicken. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Dola Mae Calhoun, two brothers, Guy and Leslie Calhoun; and one sister, Arbie Gray. Survivors include his four sons, Bobby of Pell City AL, Leroy of Lexington; Junior of Panama City FL and Donald of Jackson; six daughters, Joyce Taylor of Glendale AZ, Jean Mauldin of Bells, Judy Hobbs of Nashville, Beverly Ballard and Patricia parsons both of Lexington, and Peggy Pledger of Mt. Juliet; two sisters, Dorothy Mahall and Beauton Flippo of Florence AL; Twenty three grandchildren.

ARLEY CARSON - Funeral services for Mr. Arley Carson will be today August 13, 2008 at Family Funeral Care. Burial is in Antioch Cemetery in Lexington. Mr. Carson, a retired steamfitter with Local 614, age 80, died Sunday August 10, 2008 at Primary Healthcare Center. He is survived by his wife Edith; two daughters, Denise Landry and Barbara Lumpkin; two sisters, Juanita Lynch and Aileen Wheeler; seven grandchildren.

LEON CARVER - A 20 year old colored youth drowned Sunday afternoon about 1:30 in White's Creek on Tennessee Lake while attempting to learn to swim. Leon Carver, son of Floyd and Clara Carver, Garvey St., dived in water about ten feet deep and failed to come up. Only witness to the tragedy was a cousin. Services were conducted Tuesday at St. paul's Church and burial was in Cooper's Grove. Wright-Timberlake Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

SARAH JANE CARNLEY - - Graveside services for Mrs. Sarah Jane Carnley were Tuesday, June 1st at Mazies Chapel Cemetery. Pafford Funeral Home was in charge. Mrs. Carnley, who was 29, died Saturday, May 29 at Lexington Methodist Hospital. She was a housewife. She leaves her husband, Jerry Carnley; four sons, Bradley Carnley, Dylan Carnley, Cody Carnley and Johnathan Carnley, all of Lexington; her mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Porter; step-father, Bobby Porter, Lexington; her father and step-mother, Raymond Lee and Susan Cain of Utah; three brothers, James Porter of Yuma City, TX., Joseph Porter of Avon Park, Fla., and Michael Porter of Lexington.

ARCHIE E. CARVER , 72, of Hendersonville died APril 8, 2009. He was a graduate of Montgomery H igh School in Lexington and Tennessee A & I State University. He retired from the US Department of Agriculture Poultry Grading Division. Archie was preceded by parents, William Sr. and Lula Jai, a son ARchie Jr. He is survived by his wife, Virgie; a son Darrell T. Carver; brothers WIlliam Carver Jr. , Geraldine Sharp and Eddie Carver; four grandchildren.

NORMAN CARVER - Funeral services for Pastor Carver were Saturday Feb. 13, 2010 at First Baptist Church Lexington TN with Bledsoe Funeral Home in charge. Burial followed in Lexington Cem. Pastor Carver, age 72, died Feb. 9, 2010 at Jackson Hospital. He was very active in Lexington and Henderson County serving on all types of committees and boards. He was the pastorof New Spring Hill Baptist Church, Trenton TN for 25 years. All he wanted people to know is that a man of God has passed this way. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years, Ann Carver; one son Bryant (Leight) Carver; two daughters, Crystal Pearson and Tasha Carver all of Lexington and eight grandchildren.

JACK T. CHEEK - Funeral services for Jack T. Cheek were Monday April 13, 2009 at Reeds Chapel in Lexington with Bro. George Reed officiating. Burial followed in Rock Hill Cemetery. Mr. Cheek, age 79, of Lexington passed away of Friday April 10, 2009 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. He was retired from General Motors and was a veteran of the US Army serviving in Korea. He was born March 4, 1930 in Hazel Park MI to Mitchell and Clara Cheek. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Karen; a daughter Clara (Rick) Snarski of Michigan.

ROSIE ELLER (SNIDER) CHUMNEY - Services were conducted for Mrs. Rosie Eller Snider Chumney from New Hope Church Monday afternoon. Mrs. Chumney, 69, a native of this county died Saturday at her home in Dudley MO. SHe was born in the New Hope community and for 20 years had lived in St. Louis. Later she moved to Memphis and for the past 18 months had lived in Dudley. She was a member of the New Hope church. She leaves her husband George T. Chumney; two sons, Coy F. and James H., both of St. Louis; a sister, Mrs. Florence White of Sardis; four brothers, Hubert and Burl Snider of Gleason, Lonnie of Scotts Hill and Dewey Snider of Memphis. Five grandchildren also survive. Burial was at New Hope, Lexington Funeral Home had charge of local arraangements.

DANIEL CLARK - Funeral services for Danny Clark ,age 50, will be Saturday October 27, 2007 at 1:00 P. M. at the First Baptist Church in Lexington with Bro. Don Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Hare Cemetery. Mr. Clark was a soft drink representative for 24 years and was presently co-owner of Doc's Landscaping and Lawn Service. He died Wednesday in Lexington from injuries in an automobile accident. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Lisa Azbill Clark; two sons, Daniel O.(Holly) Clark III, Micheal Stephen(Allyson) Clark; two daughters, Shana Lynn Clark and Ashley Lauren Clark; a brother, David Keith Clark; step-mother, Faye Helen Woods Clark all of Lexington and his mother, Elsie Marie Clark and a sister Marcia Lynn Thompson of Corinth, MS. He also leaves five grandchildren, Hanna Robin, Dayne, Alayna, Braylon, and Ella Grace Clark.

AUNETA E. (GARDNER) COGDELL - Services for Mrs. Auneta Gardner Cogdell were Wednesday at Pafford Funeral Home with the Revs. Judd Mowery and Deborah Christiansen officiating. Burial was in Independence Cemetery. Mrs. Cogdell, who was 75, died Dec. 23 at Methodist Hospital of Lexington. She was the widow of Leroy Cogdell and was employed in Convalescent care. She was a Methodist. She leaves a son, Ronald L. Cogdell of Huron; four brothers, Leon Gardner of Sea View, Wash., Theitus Gardner of Brush Prairie, Wash., Coldis Gardner and John H. Gardner, both of Lexington; a half brother, Harold Alexander of Rockford, Ill.; a half sister, Mrs. Wanda Ayers of Lexington and two grandchildren.

ELVIE SUE (HEMBY) COGDELL - Funeral services for Mrs. Elvie Sue Cogdell, age 80, were held Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home. Burial followed at Henderson County Memory Gardens. Mrs. Cogdell passed away early Friday in Lexington. She was born May 10, 1927 in Henderson County to the late Sam and Ollie M. (Sipes) Hemby. She lived most of her life in the Blue Goose Community, but had been a resident of Briarwood Nursing Home for three years. She was a disabled factory worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Cogdell. Survivors include her three children, Sonna Fae Ray and husband, Vick, of Gibson, TN, Freda Sims and husband, Thomas, of Lexington, and Tim Cogdell of Lexington; one brother, Arthur Hemby of Lexington; two sisters, Cara Fuller of Lexington and Eva Gardner of Jackson; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

DARLENE COLEMAN - Services for Darlene Coleman were June 11, 2011 at Parsons Mortuary. Burial followed in Christian Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Coleman, age 50, died June 8, 2011 at Henderson County Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Tony A> Coleman, Wildersville; one stepson; one brother David Alexander of Parsons.

ALICE (ODLE) COX wife of D. B. Cox four miles west of Lexington, agd 47 years, died Tuesday night from pneumonia after long being an invalid. She was the mother of twelve children and eleven survive. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Burial in Palestine Cemetery, Rev. Fleetwood Ball officiating. Mrs. Cox died in the night hours and not until Wednesday morning was her body prepared for burial, which duty was performed by two ladies of the Woodmen Circle, who went out from Lexington.

Mr. Cox, 80, was dead on arrival at Methodist Hospital of Lexington Thursday night. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired state highway employee. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mae Sue Roberts Cox of Lexington; three sons, Michael Cox, Terry Cox and James Lynn Cox, all of Lexington; two daughters, Miss Christy Cox, of Lexington and Mrs. Deborah Lewis of Puryear; a brother Carl Wayne Cox of Lexington; a sister Mrs. Leedell Grissom of Lexington adn two grandchildren.

DAVID BUALL COX - The Progress was not furnished last week information in regard to the death of David B. Cox, which occurred May 25th 1938 at his home five miles west of Lexington, Mr. Cox having reached the age of 65 years. He was born in Henderson County, October 7, 1862, the son of the late David and Mrs. Adeline Cox and was married to Miss Alice M. Odle about 42 years ago. She died October 9th 1918. Of the twelve children born to this union, the following survive: Mrs. D. E. (Florence) Blankenship, Cotter, Missouri; James D. Cox, Mrs. Will (Ollie) Gilliam, Mrs. T. Walter (Fannie) Petty, Mrs. Charles (Irene) Buck, Fenner Cox, Memphis; Odell Cox, Mrs. Jeff (Lily B.) Rush, Miss Exie Cox and Buell Cox. Mrs. Hulon (Bessie) Scott and Herman Cox preceded him to the grave some years ago. Twenty one grandchildren survive him. Mr. Cox was a hard working man when in the enjoyment of good health and was a quiet , law-abiding citizen. We had known him for many years and had never heard anything against him. With many friends and relatives present, the body was interred May 26th 1938 at Palestine, Revs. Fleetwood Ball and T. C. Jowers officiating.

Scott, died Thursday afternoon of last week, in a short time after undergoing an operation, in her home five miles from Lexington and her funeral was held on Friday afternoon at Palestine, conducted by Rev. Fleetwood Ball. She was of the Methodist faith but had not united with the church.

RUBY (TYLER) COX - Services for Mrs. Ruby Tyler Cox, 88, will be Sunday February 13, 2000 at 4:00pm at Independence Church of Christ with burial in the church cemetery. A former resident of Medina, Mrs. Cox died Friday evening at Kirby Pines Nursing Home in Memphis. The daughter of the late Thomas L. and Lille Holmes Tyler, she was born in Henderson County and educated in the Henderson County School System. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was retired from Oakley Fashions in Jackson. Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by her husband Henry Cox in 1991 and her sisters, Estelle Rogers Hawkins, Pearl Keen Peterson, Lessie Matlock, Robbie Cash and Minnie Ola Meals Criss and three brothers, Garland Tyler, Lancaster Tyler and Alvis Tyler. Mrs. Cox is survived by a daughter, Betty Ann Houge of Memphis and two sons, Thomas Cox of Memphis and Billy Cox of Fontana, CA; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM G. COX - Sep 12, 1849 – Mar 30, 1910 / In the 1860 Census it showed his parent to be David and Adeline Cox, he was the husband of Amanda (Mandy) Christopher. Their children in 1900 census was: Lewis 21, Thomas H 17, Lessie M 14, Arthur L 9, Flossie E 6, Chester M 2.

JOHN ALBERT COZART - Funeral services for John Cozart age 94 were October 20, 2003 at Pafford's Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hare Cemetery. Mr. Cozart died October 18, 2003 at Lexington Henderson Co. Community Hospital. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Cozart and one grandson.

MAX CARROLL COZART - Funeral services for Max Carol Cozart, age 72, will be at 3:00 P. M. Sunday, March 3, 2002 at the Mazies Chapel with burial in Mazies Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Cozart, a retiree from Lexington Coca Cola, died Friday, March 1, 2002 at West Tennessee Skilled Nursing Center. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Imogene Cozart of Lexington, TN; three daughters, Mrs. Sharon Boothe of Reagan, TN, Mrs. Carolyn Russel of Lexington, TN, and Mrs. Tracy Phillips of Wildersville, TN; two sons Mr. Tim Cozart of Brunswick, GA and Mr. Marty Cozart of Lexington, TN; two sisters, Mrs. Peggy Sanders of Lexington, TN and Mrs. Dorothy Rae Robertson of Lexington, TN; nine grandchildren, Bradley Cozart, Donald Cozart, Chelsey Cozart, Shayna Cozart, Traci Duck, Mindy Boothe, Amber Boothe, Dusty Russell and Ashley McCollum and two great grandchildren, Cassie Duck and Tessa Duck. Pafford Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Burial was in the church cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Cozart, who was 29, died Saturday at Methodist Hospital of Lexington. He was an employee of Bonee Heating and Air Conditioning. He leaves his parents, Max and Imogene Cozart of Lexington; a son, Bradley Maxwell Cozart of McKenzie; two brothers, Marty Cozart of Lexington and Tim Cozart of Knoxville; three sisters, Mrs. Sharon Boothe of Enville, Mrs. Tracye Phillips of Wildersville and Mrs. Carolyn Russell of Lexington and his grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Garner of Lexington.

SERRENA MICHELLE COZART - Funeral services for Serrena Michelle Cozart were held Friday, July 6, 2007 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Miss Cozart, 36 of Cedar Grove, Tennessee passed away Monday, July 2, 2007 at her home. She was an employee of Dewayne’s Quality Metal Coating in Lexington. She leaves her parents, Linda and James Lee Pearson of Cedar Grove; one step grandfather, Henry Williams; and two sisters, Tonia Pearson and Stephanie Pearson, both of Cedar Grove. JOHNNIE LYNN CROWE -Memorial services for Ms. Johnnie Lynn Crowe, age 41, were Jan. 28, 2010 in the chapel of Pafford Fuenral Home. Ms. Crowe died Tuesday in Memphis. She was born April 14, 1968 in Lexington. She was preceded by her father, Johnny Ray Crowe and her motehr Barbara Webb. Survivors include her stepmother, her son, Stephen Lee Crowe; two daughters, Jessice Breann Crowe and Barbara Crosw; four brothers, Jesse, Keith, and Johnny Crowe and Brodie Shaffer; a sister Melissa Bay and one grandchild Johnnie RayLynn Crowe.

THOMAS HOYLE CROWE - Services for Thomas Hoyle Crow were Saturday at Pafford Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Hopper officiating. Burial was in Independence Cemetery. Mr. Crow, 66, died early Friday morning at Lexington Hospital. He was a retired ginner. He leaves his wife, Marie McDaniel Crow of Lexington; five daughters, Mrs. Joy McKinney of Brownsville, Mrs. Nancy Dyer, Mrs. Ruth Jordan both of Lexington, Miss Patty Crow of Chattanooga and Betty Crow of Jackson; a sister, Mrs. Etherd Blankenship of Lexington; two brothers, Van Crow of Jacks Creek and Wyman of Castro Valley CA and a grandson.

WALTER ODELL CROWE - Services for Walter Odell Crowe, 49 were conducted Wednesday afternoon from Sand Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Elmo Blakney. Mr. Crowe was found dead in bed at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ray McCay, in Brownsville Tuesday morning, (3 Oct 1976) where he was staying while working with a construction company there. Exact cause of death was undetermined but Mr. Crowe suffered bruises Tuesday when a tree limb fell against him while at work. He is survived by his wife, a son, Jose Neal, and a daughter Peggy Ann, all of Route 1; his father Lish Crowe. Leaving a brother, Chester Route 1; two half brothers Fred of Jackson and Lish Jr. of Memphis; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Walker and Miss Kathyrn Crowe both of Lavina. Burial was in Sand Ridge Cem. Pafford Funeral Home in charge.

CLYDE JOE CULP - Services for Clyde Joe Culp were Sunday, October 20 at New Bethel Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Culp, who was 65, died Friday, October 18, at Jackson General Hospital. He was a retired Air Force Sgt. He leaves three sons, David Culp of Arcola, Ill., Ken Culp of Iowa City, Iowa and Dennis Culp of Sheffield, Iowa; a daughter, Susan Hanna of Cedar Falls, Iowa, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

JEAN (MULLINS) CULP - Services for Jean Culp were Tuesday at Reeds Chapel with the Rev. Ben Rainey officiating. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Culp, who was 61, died Sunday night at Lexington Methodist Hospital after a long illness. She was a Henderson County native and lived many years in Memphis were she worked as a bookkeeper for an imported car company. After moving back to Lexington, she worked at Dan’s Café. She was a Methodist. She leaves her husband, Clyde Culp of Lexington; a daughter, Glenda K. Jones of Camden; two adopted sons, Roy Edward Dial of Van Nuys, Calif., and Don Dial of Caruthersville, Mo.; her mother, Addie Mae Mullins of Memphis; a sister, Margaret Veteto of Memphis and three grandchildren.
