TULLY GOSSETT - Services for Mr. Jared Tully Gossett age 33, were held Saturday Jan. 7, 2012 at Wildersville Baptist Church. Interment followed in Jones Cemetery. Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gossett passed away near Lexington. He was born Sept. 12, 1978 in Lexington. He was an employee of Young Touchstone in Lexington and a member of Wildersville Baptist Church. He was preceded by his father Johnny Gossett and his grandparents, Howard Sutton and Sue Borden. Survivors include hi wife, Michelle, his three children, Waylon, Ally and Harley Gossett all of Lexington, his mother Mrs. Terry Gossett of Lexington, three sisters, Misty Gossett and Starla Hays of Lexington and Casie Luna of Murfreesboro, his grandparents Howell and Mary Gossett of Wildersville and Mary Thacker of Ft. Myers FL, four nieces, Gracie Hays, Halle Maness, Savannah and Emmy Jo Blackburn and three nephews.

CLYDE GREER - Services for Clyde Greer were Saturday Aug. 20, 2011 at Reeds Chapel in Lexington with burial following in Lexington Cemetery. Mr. Greer was born April 17, 1943 to the late Clyde Greer Sr. and Virginia Teague and departed this life August 16, 2011 in Jackson TN. He was the first of 16 siblings. He received Christ at an early age at Madison St. Church of Christ in Lexington TN and faithfully served as deacon and treasurer until his health complications. He was employed for 35 years at Magnatek as a tool and die operator retiring in 1998. He also held the office of Past Patron of the Eastern Star, Rose Bud Chapter # 223 and was a member of St. Johns Lodge #43 as a 32nd degree Mason. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Vivian Fry Greer of Lexington; three daughters, Kimberly Buckley, Lawanda Greer, Khadigria Kilgore and two grandchildren; four brothers Reese, James, Paul, Jerome and seven sisters, Gertie Kizer and Shelia Bomar, Sarah Mayo and Mary Kizer, Beverly Greer, Stigger and Cora Dell Greer of IN. He was predeceased by siblings, William and Robert, Betty and Linda Greer.

ANDY GRISSOM - Graveside service for Andy Grissom age 54, are scheduled for Wednesday March 23, 2011 at Lexington Cemetery. Pafford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Grissom died Monday in Memphis. He was a retired truck driver for Reeves Brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Grissom; two brothers, Kenneth and Scott Grissom; three sisters, Linda Lawrence, Lillian Austin and Kathy Prater and two grandchildren.

BERNICE (CROSSER) GRISSOM - Services for Mrs. Bernice Crosser Grissom, age 86, are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill with Bro. Chris Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Scotts Hill Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Grissom passed away late Monday in Parsons. She was born Feb. 8, 1924 in Henderson County to the late Arch and Oma Helms Crosser. She was a retired inspector for Scotts Hill Apparel, a member of Scotts Hill CHurch of Christ and enjoyed visiting Scotts Hill Senior Citizens. She was preceded by her husband Herbert Grissom, a brother J.R. Crosser and four sisters, Eunice WOody, Mazie Dabbs, Eunita Noles and Grapel Conder.

BILLY JOE GRISSOM - Billy Joe, 11 months old baby of Louis and Goldie Austin Grissom, died Tuesday in the home of the parents at Reagan. Surviving are the parents and one brother and one sister. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jim Kennedy and the little body was buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

KIMBERLY RUTH McDANIEL GRISSOM - Graveside services for Kimberly Ruth McDANIEL Grissom were tuesday Nov. 2, 2010 at Emmanuel Bapist Church Cemetery. Ms. Grissom, age 46, of Lexington died Friday Oct. 29, 2010 in Jackson. She is suvived by her companion Tommy Stanley, a siser Sarah Maness; and a niece and nephew Erica Balkwilland Jos Britt.

DEWARD K. GRISSOM - Funeral services. for Dr Deward K Grissom were Monday, December 3, 2007, in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Comer officiating. Interment followed in Lexington Cemetery. Mr. Grissom passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007 in Lexington at the age of 90. He was born December 31, 1916 in the Center Hill community of Henderson County to the late Robert and Bessie Kizer Grissom. His step-mother was Pearlie Davis Grissom. He had four brothers that preceded him in death: Aubrey, Paul, Willard and Clifton Grissom and is survived by one sister, Avel Grissom and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Grissom attended a one teacher school in Center Hill then attended Junior High in Reagan and high school in Sardis, graduating in 1936. After graduation, he and a friend, Glen Chalk, found their way to Knoxville where they hoped to attend the University of Tennessee. Grissom began working in a drug store where he would remain for years while attending the university. He graduated with a BS in Education with a major in chemistry and a minor in math. He was qualified to teach both elementary and secondary schools. He began to work as a chemist in Alcoa, TN. There he did not find his work satisfying, but his pay was good. He then went to work for Monsanto Chemical Company as a Health Physicist in Oak Ridge. He found his work interesting there, but the exposure to radiation was always a worry, He was awarded a scholarship for a Masters Degree in Education from the American Association for Progressive Education. He spent one year at a school in Scott County, just outside of Knoxville where he explored ways of teaching science to students in grades kindergarten to high school. Then the US entered WW II. Because of fears of chemical warfare, Grissom, being a chemist was almost immediately called to serve. He was first sent to Maryland where he was reclassified. He was sent to Texas for briefing, then to New Jersey to join the main 67th American Hospital for shipment overseas. After landing in Scotland, they were sent to Taunson, England. His first job was to do standardized lab tests, using American and British dyes. The 67th American Hospital was the last group sent back home after Germany surrendered. While in England, he took some classes at Oxford University and in Paris he took some classes at the University of Paris where he hoped to learn French Grissom went back to the University of Tennessee to see Dr. Walker, his former advisor. Walker asked Grissom if he would like to teach at the university. This meeting took place on a Friday and Grissom began teaching on the following Monday. In 1948 he took a leave of absence to enter Columbia University in New York City. After leaving Columbia University, he returned home to Tennessee, but he did not go back into teaching, but became the Senior Public Health Educator with the Gibson County Health Department in Trenton. When the Tennessee Dept of Mental Health was formed, he served as an advisor and the planning and education of the mental health program. He was sent to Canada as a representative to the World Health Organization. He finished his dissertation in 1952 and received his Ph.D. He then accepted a position with the Southern Illinois University, where he would remain for twenty-three years until his retirement in 1978. While in Illinois he taught to students seeking their Ph.D. He served in a number of associations including the Illinois Society of Public Health of which he was president. He retired to Oxford, MS for a while until he sold his home there and then moved to Lexington with his sister, Avel Grissom. In Lexington, he became involved with the Little Theater and assisted in many productions Deward Grissom, or Dee as he was always called, always set a goal and obtained it. Once he reached that goal, he would set another one. With a great sense of humor, a good heart, and a strong determination, he has made this world a better place.

JAMES LLOYD GRISSOM - James Lloyd Grissom, 50, of Reagan, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Lexington Methodist Hospital. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palestine Cemetery in Lexington. Pafford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

JEREMIAH B. GRISSOM - Funeral services for Jeriemah B. Grissom, 90, were held Saturday at 2 in the home of Mrs. Julian Dodd with Bro. Charles Thomason officiating, burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He died in the home of his daughter early Thursday morning. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Grissom was a retired contractor and for the past several years, had been Historian of Henderson County. He leaves five sons; Thomas Grissom, New Jersey, Joe Grissom, Memphis, Silas Grissom, Beech Bluff, Ralph Lexington and Muse Grissom; one daughter, Mrs. Julian Dodd, Lexington.

PAUL GRISSOM - Services for Paul Grissom will be April 13, 2000 at Pafford Funeral Home with burial in Center Hill Cemetery. Mr. Grissom who was 88, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at Lexington Methodist Hospital of complications of pneumonia. He was a retired farmer. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Gertie Grissom of Lexington; four daughters, Helen Bain of Jackson, Bertie King of St. Louis MO, Faye Washburn of Dresden and JoAnn Wright of Lexington; a sister, Avel Grissom of Lexington; three brother Aubry Grissom of Selmer, Clifton Grissom and Deward both of Lexington and 12 grandchildren.

ROBERT GRISSOM - Services for Robert Grissom were Friday, October 3 at Reeds Chapel with burial held at Rock Hill Cemetery. Mr. Grissom age 70, died Wednesday October 1, 2003 at Henderson County Hospital. He was preceded in death by a son, Warren Grissom. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Grissom of Lexington; 3 sons, Rick, Roger, and Danny Grissom, all of Lexington; daughter Barbara Reed at Lexingtno, 7 grandchidlren and six great grandchildren.

ROGER A. GRISSOM , age 56, of Lexington died Jan. 13, 2012 in Haiti in a construction accident while building an orphanazge. He is survived by his wife Donita Grissom and a stepdaughter Elizabeth (Nate) Russell and a grandchild of Florida, his mother Bernice Grissom, 2 brothers Rick and Danny all of Lexington. He was preceded in death by his father Bob and a brother Warren. Memorial services will be Sunday Jan. 29, 2012 at Reeds Chapel.

WILLARD GRISSOM - Services for Willard W. Grissom were Sunday at Pafford Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah. Mr. Grissom, 70, died Friday night at Veterans Administration Med. Center in Memphis. He was a retired bus drive for the county. He leaves his wife, Josephine Box Grissom of Reagan; a son, Travis Grissom of reagan; two stepsons, Tony King and Charles King, both of Reagan; four brothers, Clifton Grissom, Duard Grissom, both of Lexington, Paul of Dresden and Aubrey of Selmer and a sister, Avel Grissom of Lexington.
