OBITUARIES of HENDERSON COUNTY S EULA (ESSARY) SCATTERBY - Services for Mrs. Eula Essary Scatterday will be today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. David Walker officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Scatterday, who was 98, died Monday {July 5, 1993) at Methodist Hospital of Lexington. She was a retired school teacher and a Baptist. She was the widow of C. B. Scatterday. She and her husband compiled a history of the Chesterfield community since its origin in 1820 and the history is now the property of the local library. She was a correspondent for The Lexington Progress for Chesterfield for 47 years and told many amusing accounts of her pets and experiences during her life. She leaves several nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late John and Mary Ellen Altom Essary. She was married to the late C.B. Scatterday. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College of Bristol, VA and the University of Tennessee of Knoxville. Her 32 years of teaching were spent in high schools in Coeburn VA, Henderson and Decatur Counties. She taught notably for 26 years in ridgely High School in Lake County TN. Mrs. Scatterday leaves no survivors except a number of nieces and nephews. She and her late husband were active in Union Baptist Church and various community activities. Her latest project was compiling a history of Chesterfield Community since its origin in 1820. This history is now the property of Henderson County Library. Services will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Union Baptist Church with Rev. David Walker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are: David Wyatt, David Frizzell, Bill Reeves, Wayne Ivy, Danny Garner and Jerry Frizzell. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon to 10 p.m. today. Lexington Progress 21 Nov 1968 JERROLD SEAY - on Thursday March 1, 2012 at 11:20 pm the gospel train stopped at Jackson General Hospital to allow Jerrold Seay to board. He was born Nov. 28, 1955 to the late J.B. and Dorothy (Minor) Seay. He received his education at Ford School in Brook Park OH. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted son, Joshua, a daughter Taylor; ex-wife Judy; three grandchildren; three sisters, Pat Celaschi of OH, Debra Stepnanik of Ohio and Linda Digennaro of Ohio; three brothers, Jason of Huntingdon, Mike of Trenton GA and Gary of Ohio; two uncles, and a host of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Sheila Edwards. Lexington Progress 7 March 2012 SALLIE (RICKETTS) SHELTON was born on February 27, 1859, and died April 6, 1941, aged 82 years. Early in life she was married to Dock Massey and to this union were born five children, of which four survive: Mary Neisler, Ella Neisler, John Ike Massey and Susie Pierce. After the death of her first husband, she was married to J. T. Shelton, in February 1888, and to this union were born seven children, five of whom survive: George, Jim, Tennie, Burnine and Elvie. Mrs. Shelton was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with services conducted by J. J. Britt.
