DANIEL, JOHN THOMAS - John Thomas Daniel, 65, died unexpectedly Sunday night at his home in the Lyle community.  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Hilltop Church of Christ.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Daniel; two sisters, Mrs. H. L. Jenkins of Shelbyville and Mrs. Charles Clark of Nashville.  Mr. Daniel was a native of Moore County, son of the late Thomas and Feebie McGee Daniel.  He was a carpenter, veteran of World War I, and member of the Church of Christ.

DANIELS, SAM WILLIS - Funeral services for Sam Willis Daniels, 51, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home with Clifford Dickson officiating.  Mr. Daniels died Friday at his home here after an illness of 11 weeks.  He was a native of Hickman County, son of the late Same and Sarah Leeper Daniels.   He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Delphia Reed Daniels; three sons, Walter Daniels of Detroit, Mich., and Sammie and Billy Daniels, both of Centerville; three brothers, Woody Daniels of Dickson, Walter Daniels of Obion, and Hensley Daniels of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Mrs. Anna Smith of Nashville; and a grandchild.

DAVIDSON, ARCH WILBURN - January 12, 1952 - Arch Wilburn Davidson, 56, sawmill operator of Swann community, died.

DAVIS, ANNIE - Died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. James M. Jewell, near Shady Grove, Mrs. Annie Davis.

DEAN, SARAH ELLEN WARF - Funeral services for Mrs. W. H. Dean, 84, were held Saturday, January 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant church near Primm Springs.  Burial was in church cemetery.  The Rev. Dean Stroud and Rev. Robert Windsor officiated.  Mrs. Dean died at the home of her son, Allen H. Dean, after a heart seizure at 1 a.m. Friday.  A native of Hickman County, Mrs. Dean was the daughter of Benjamin and Betty Lunn Warf.  She was educated in Hickman County schools.  She was a member of the Methodist Church.  She is survived by another son, Frank R. Dean of Roseville, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. W. H. Fox, Nunnelly, Mrs. Bert Fox of Franklin, Mrs. Sammie Baker, Forest Home Community, Mrs. Houser Reaves, Primm Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Bud Mayberry and Mrs. Jim Mayberry, both of Centerville; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

DEASON, CHARLEY P. - Charley Deason Dead - After an illness of some time Charley P. Deason died Saturday night at his home in Dickson. He was a former citizen of Centreville, a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and was 56 years old. He is survived by wife and four children -- Rupert, Gary, Mabel and Ray, all grown -- Mother, three sisters -- Mrs. P. W. Poore, of Hohenwald; Mrs. Thomas Coleman, of Centreville; and Mrs. Milt Blanton, Pond Switch; two brothers -- A. E. and J. W. Deason, of Poteau, Okla., and Nashville, respectively.

DEVORE, JAMES - Mr. James Devore, an aged citizen of upper Beaverdam, in this county, died some two weeks ago, aged about 70 years.  The deceased owned the property on which Aetna furnace now stands and sold it to the company to erect their works.  His house stood on the sight of Aetna.  He was a brother to Mr. Jack Devore, who lives above Aetna.

DEVORE, SALLIE CUMBERLAND - Mrs. Sallie Cumberland Devore, 66 years of age and wife of the late Jackie Devore of the southern part of Hickman county died yesterday morning at 7:30 at her home with a daughter, Mrs. Geo. McNabb at Aetna.  An illness with pneumonia, suffered the past ten days, is given as the cause of death, although the condition of the patient had not been considered critical.  Funeral services will be held this afternoon by Elder Mark C. Love of Kimmins, and burial will be at the Milan cemetery.  Surviving are daughters, Mrs. George McNabb and Mrs. John Matthews; son, John Will Devore, and several grandchildren, all of Aetna.  Among the grandchildren is Dennis Devore, former student of Hickman County High School.  Mrs. Devore was a member of the Church of Christ and beloved for the many noble attributes which characterized her life.  She was born and raised on Indian Creek where she was married early in life to the late Mr. Devore who died about 30 years ago.  Her life of devotion to home and community is felt as one of great blessing, and her passing is a source of sorrow to many hearts. DIVINNY, JAMES R. - Died at the residence on W____ creek, on Tuesday night of last week, Mr. James R. Divinny, aged about 65 years.  _____ leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death.

DONEGAN, JULIA - Bon Aqua - We have had two deaths in our community lately; Miss Josephine McMinn and Miss Julia Donegan.  Miss Julia Donegan was about fifteen years old, daughter of Mr. Benjamin Donegan, and a member of the M. E. Church, South.  She died after one week's suffering with a second attack of diphtheria.  We also tender our sympathy to Mr. Donegan and family. DORTON, RUBY - June 13, 1952 - Ruby Dorton, 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dorton of near Centerville, died.

DOTSON, JOHNNIE THOMPSON - Martin, South Carolina - Mr. Johnnie Thompson Dotson, 72, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 1990, at Allendale County Hospital Fairfax.  The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home, Allendale.   Burial will be in Lower Three Runs Cemetery, Allendale County.  Mr. Dotson, a native of Hickman County, Tenn., had retired as an engineering assistant from DuPont.  Survivors include his wife, Ethel Askins Dotson, two sons, Gary E. Dotson and Larry D. Dotson, both of Martin, a daughter, Glenda C. Dotson, Martin, a sister, Pearl D. Lacher, Waynesboro, Tenn., and a grandchild.  Memorials may be made to the Lower Three Runs Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

DOWNEY, JAMES C. -  Died in Humphreys county, 2 1/2 miles from Waverly, Feb. 17, 1884, James C. Downey, aged 63 years.  At and early age he embraced religion, and through the remainder of life continued a faithful and consistent Christian and died in the full triumphs of a living faith.  He seemed to live rather for others than himself.  All who knew him can speak of his goodness.  He was formerly an old and respected citizen of this county, having for nine years lived at Pinewood.  He leaves one brother, the old and well-known county court clerk of Lewis county.  He also leaves seven children and a host of friends who deeply mourn his loss. --- A Friend

DUNN, ROLPHIA BURNS - Funeral services for Mrs. Rolphia Burns Dunn, 52, of Aetna were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Aetna Church of Christ with Glenn Mayfield officiating.  Burial was in the Milam cemetery.  Mrs. Dunn died suddenly Tuesday night, July 14, while she was in Hohenwald.  She was a native of Hickman County, daughter of Mrs. Maggie Grisham Burns of Aetna and the late Dee Burns.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Homer B. Dunn; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Feaster and Mrs. Hazel Hatcher, both of Memphis; seven sons, Charles Dunn of Nashville, Raymond Dunn of Memphis, Hollis Dunn of Clarksville, and Guy, Dale, Owen and Dorris Dunn, all of Aetna; a sister, Mrs. Euna Bell Alexander of Aetna; five brothers, Leslie, Connie, Leaman and Joe Burns, all of Toledo, Ohio, and Truman Burns of Aetna; and five grandchildren.
