Cotton Gin Grove was settled in 1819. By 1834 it had a post office and a stagecoach stop.
Adam Huntsman, the lawyer who defeated Davy Crockett, is buried there in the
Old Salem Cemetery. The cemetery is the only reminder of that community. Huntsman's home site is just east of the cemetery.
