SPRING CREEK COMMUNITY

1 July 1875 George McDANIEL / Wm. F. EDWARDS
Some time last winter the wife of one Geo. McDaniel, of this city, eloped with her paramour. McDaniel published the fact at the time, and in the publication charged one Wm. F. Edwards, of this county, as being the destroyer of his domestic happiness and honor. Growing out of this it seems that Edwards, (according to an affidavit of McDaniel's) had threatened McDaniel's life. McDaniel swore out a peace warrant against Edwards, which was made returnable before some Magistrate at Spring Creek on Saturday last. The parties met a Spring Creek according to the summons, but the papers for some reason, did not put in an appearance, hence the case was not tried and the litigants started home. It seems that they traveled the same road, and when about two miles from Spring Creek, had a battle in the woods, all to themselves, no witnesses being present, which resulted in several wounds with a stick upon the head of Edwards, and a pistol shot wound in the right arm of McDaniel. Both are in custody of the law.
