WILLIAM K. FENNER - Died yesterday at father's residence in this county of a pulmonary consumption Doctor Wm. K. Fenner, in 28th year of age, late of N.C. Jackson Gazette 3 July 1824 Died July 2, 1824 son of Richard J. and Ann McKinney Geddy BENNY FESMIRE , age 76, of Jackson passed away Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Ben Hooper and Euda Beecham Fesmire. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Charles Fesmire. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors. A private service will be held later for the family with Rev. Jimmy Breedlove officiating. Mr. Benny, as he was known to most, graduated from Humboldt High School and the West Tennessee Business College. During his career he spent 10 years with the National Guard and was employed at the Milan Arsenal, IBM, Peoples Protective Life, ITT, Kellogg, and did accounting work for Whilite’s Union 76. He later became Vice President of First National Bank where he worked for 11 years. In 1984, he and his former partner, Bruce B. Haltom, founded and co-owned B & H Investments, Inc., which recently celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary. He was also a former owner of Griffin Funeral Home of Jackson. It was through his business that his generosity showed. He was known by many as one of the most benevolent men they had ever met. Mr. Benny had a true passion for making the dreams of his customers a reality. He was known for contributing to various schools, civic organizations, and churches throughout the West Tennessee area. In appreciation of his support, the Theatre at The Ned was named in his honor. Mr. Benny also enjoyed serving within the community. He served as past chairman of Rothrock Stadium and was one of the first to manage Jackson’s Oman Arena. He also managed American Legion Baseball for several years and was in charge of ticket sales for the NAIA Women’s National Tournament. Mr. Benny had a true love for Union University where he formerly served as a member of their Board of Trustees. He had a passion to support the student athlete. He was an avid sports fan attending sporting events of his grandchildren and the Union Bulldogs until and even through some of his illness. In recognition of his support, the Fesmire Field House and Fesmire Fields (baseball and softball) at Union were named in his honor. He, along with his wife, was inducted into the first class of the Union University Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. As a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church since 1955, he generously supported the Child Development Center where his wife, Norma, has worked for over 43 years. Mr.Benny was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 56 years Norma Jean Fesmire; Son, Benny D. Fesmire Jr. and his wife Sherry; a Daughter, Terri Sadler and grandchildren Brad Taylor, Jenni Sadler, Benjie Fesmire, Katie Beth Fesmire, and Jordan Fesmire. Pallbearers for the private service will be Brad Taylor, Benjie Fesmire, David Marbury, Dr. David Blackstock, Tommy Sadler and Taylor Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jordan Fesmire and Dr. Billy Belew. Arrington Funeral Home (Born: December 12, 1933 -Died: December 14, 2009) ANNA BELL (BARHAM) FORREST - Funeral service for Anna Bell Forrest age 90, will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at Mercer Baptist Church with Brother Mike Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Forrest died Sunday June 15, 2008 at Forest Cove Manor. She was born on November 22, 1917 in Madison County, TN, the daughter of the late Albert J. and Esther Hailey Barham. Mrs. Forrest was a retired Cafeteria Manager and was a member of Mercer Baptist Church . She is survived by her daughers, Rose Byrum and husband Bedford and Jane Daniel and husband Lynn all of Mercer, TN. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Richerson of Jackson, TN; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Billy Joe King; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Forrest. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus C. Forrest; two children, Judy Forrest King and Mikie Forrest and two brothers, J.T. and Bert Barham. The family will receive friends today from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of service at the church. SHIRLEY MAE (CLAWSON) FRANKS - Services for Shirley Mae Franks, age 71, will be at 1:00 P. M. Saturday October 27, 2007 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Pastor Alex Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Shirley died Wednesday October 24, 2007 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born December 12, 1935 in Aurora, IL the daughter of the late Harry and Lillie Holke Clawson. She is survived by her husband, Chester Franks of Jackson, TN; sons, Curt Bessette and wife, JoAnn of Florence, KY and Todd Bessette and wife, Kim of Aurora, IL; step-sons, Steve, Rick, and Tim Franks and step-daughters, Diane Davis, Janice VanRikxoort and Linda Franks. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dickie Bessett. The family will receive friends Friday October 26, 2007 from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. at the funeral home. George A. Smith & Sons SUE N. FRYER - Graveside services for Sue Fryer, 61, were Dec. 3, 2009 at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Mrs. Fryer died Nov. 26, 2009 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas NV. She worked for Regional Hospital of Jackson. She was preceded by her paerents and her husband George Fryer. Sue is survived yb two daughters, Lisa Hudson of Houston TX and Leslie Carruth of Jacksont TN; two brother, Ricky Nowell of Lexington,,,, Rocky Nowell of Enville TN; two sisters Dale Ward of Linden TN and Joan Lykins of Memphis and two grandchildren.
