THOMAS H. JINES - Services were held Monday afternoon for Tom Jines, 60-year-old farmer whose body was found pinned beneath a farm tractor in the outskirts of Humboldt late Saturday night. The funeral was held at Hunt Funeral Home and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. According to officials of Humboldt the body of Mr. Jines was found by a passerby on South 17th Avenue bout midnight Saturday. the tractor that Mr. Jines had driven to town earlier was on his body and it is thought Mr. Jines got too close to the shoulder of highway and the tractor turned over, pinning him beneath. Born and reared in Decatur County, son of the late Varnie M. and Cynthia Ann Jines, Mr. Jines moved to Humboldt several years ago. He attended Bible Grove Baptist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Dollie Jines of Humboldt; three daughters, Mrs. Opal Longmire of Jackson, Evelyn and Helen Jines of Humboldt; two sons, William and Ed Jines, both of Humboldt; two sisters, Mrs. Docia Sykes and Mrs. Dora Williams, both of Humboldt; and three brothers, Robert Jines of Ridgely, and Richard and Jake Jines of Humboldt.
(Note: The obituary stated he was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. Death Certificate states he was buried at Harris Grove Cemetery. I found his stone at Harris Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with his wife Dollie. The death date on the stone reads "Sept 15, 1949". Death certificate says death date is "Sept. 24, 1949" and according to the Jackson Sun Newspaper it would have been the 24th. Death certificate also states that the birth date is the 3rd but the headstone says the 9th so not sure which one is correct.)
