HARRY LYNN TAYLOR - 78, of Pinson died July 1, 2006, at his home, following a seven-year battle with cancer. Funeral services were held July 3 at Casey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson. He was born in Jackson, the son of the late Asa and Inez Poteete Taylor. He attended schools in Henderson and Madison counties. He was employed with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Aurora, Ill., and Procter and Gamble in Jackson, where he retired as an industrial technician in 1988. He was a member of Sanford Hill Baptist Church and the Men’s Three Sunday School class. He was active in the Woodmen of the World fraternal association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Karnazes Taylor of Pinson; a son, Eric L. Taylor (Shay) of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Brenda Long (Ricky) of Jackson; two brothers, Leonard Taylor of Madisonville, Ky., and Travis Taylor of Jackson; two sisters, JoAnn Holloway of Milan and Bythia Perkins of Henderson; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy McNeal Taylor, and two sisters, Melba Parham and Dorothy


SUSIE TAYLOR - Services for Mrs. Susie Taylor were Monday at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Karnes officiating. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery . Mrs. Taylor, widow of John Taylor, died Saturday afternoon after a long illness. She was a Henderson County native and had spent most of her life in Jackson . She was a Baptist. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Marie Buck of Jackson ; two sisters, Mrs. Mallie Wimpee and Velma Wallace, both of Jackson; two brothers, Lester Crews of Scotts Hill and Hester Crews of Jackson; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

WALTER TAYLOR - Funeral services for Walter Taylor, 61, were conducted Wednesday morning at Smith Funeral Home, Jackson, with Rev. W. O. Miller officiating. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery . Mr. Taylor, father of Thurman Taylor of Lexington , died at his home in Jackson Monday afternoon. He had been ill for the past several months with cancer. Mr. Taylor was born in Chester County and had lived in Jackson for the past 13 years. He was a member of the Memorial Primitive Baptist Church . In addition to his son, he is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Daniel and Mrs. Opal Upton, both of Jackson; a sister, Mrs. Hubert Bell of Jackson ; and five grandchildren.

JESSIE IMOGENE (KEY) THOMAS , 87, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the West Tennessee Transitional Center of Jackson. Arrington Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Thomas was born in Madison County, on March 2, 1919, the daughter of the late William M. and Estelle Pearson Key. She was a graduate of the former Browns High School and earned a BachelorÍs degree from the University of Tennessee. She was retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services as a Social Worker with fifteen years of employment. Mrs. Thomas was previously employed at the Milan Arsenal and in the dietary department of the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thomas loved books and enjoyed many hours of reading. She was also an avid bridge player. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughters, Ann Thomas Evans and her husband Hank of Des Moines, Iowa and Gene Thomas Jobe and her husband Richard of Jackson; four grandchildren, Marbry Hardin IV, Henry Evans IV, Bradley Key Evans and William Thomas Jobe and two great-granddaughters along with several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Key Wright, Elizabeth Key Barton and Dorothy Key Lifsey. The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Hospice of West Tennessee, 1805 Highway 45 By-Pass, Jackson, Tennessee or to the charity of the donor's choice.

TIMOTHY EDWARD THOMAS - Services for Timothy Thomas will be May 4, 2011 at 2 pm at Reeds Chapel in Lexington. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the Thomas family will be on Wednesday till time of service. Mr. Thomas, age 42 died May 2, 2011 in Chester County. He was preceded by his father, Edward L. Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Renee Whirley Thomas of Parsons; his mother, Linda Brasher of Memphis; a daughter, Alesha Vandiver of Parsons; two brothers, Larry Fay Woods Jr. of Memphis and Mike Thomas of Nashville; and two sisters, Rita Marie Aaron of Pulaski and Gwen Wagner of Nashville.

ADA MARIE (YORK) THOMPSON , age 84, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Willow Mount Cemetery. Reverend Jimmy Gray will officiate. Visitation will be 12-2 PM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. She was born August 20, 1924, in Bemis, Tennessee, to the late Jesse Floyd and Fannie Gray York. She retired from the original Peoples National Bank in 1984. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Austin Thompson in 2008. She is survived by three daughters, Karen Foldy, and her husband Jim, of Shelbyville, Melissa Cleveland, and her husband David, of Tullahoma, and Melinda Cotten, and her husband David, of Missouri City, Texas; ten grandchildren, Ronnie Reed, Jr., Angie Reed Jackson, Andrew Thompson Reed, Hunter Cleveland, Cody Cleveland, Megan Denson, Courtney Cotten, Amber Cotten, Bryce Foldy, and Ashley Murray; ten great grandchildren, Kelsie Reed, Sydney Reed, Hayden Reed, Jonah Jackson, Gabby Jackson, Noah Jackson, Sophia Reed, Brooklyn Murray, Aden Murray, and Park Dellavalle. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

JAMES HAROLD THOMPSON was born in Gibson County the son of the late Neal Wesley and Nina Stegall Thompson and was educated in the Fairview School at Three Way. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a Brick Mason for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Thompson and a granddaughter, Beth Ann Thompson. He leaves his wife, Norma Jean Thompson, sons, Tommy Thompson of Lavinia, TN; Brad Thompson and wife Suzy of Bethel Springs, TN and Michael Thompson and wife, Linda of Humboldt, TN; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret Brown, Elizabeth Mason, Betty Brown and Jo Ann Meredith all of Humboldt, TN.

JAMES NATHAN THOMPSON - Services for Mr. James Nathan Thompson, 82, will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Whitehall Church of God in Medon, Tennessee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Thompson died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Forest Cove Manor. Visitation will begin Sunday afternoon at Mercer Brothers Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM. On Monday, the remains of Mrs. Thompson will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.

WAYNE DEAN THOMSON , age 42, died Dec. 2, 2010 in Jackson. He was an employee with Mark Melton Construction. He was preceded by his mother, Elsie Middleton Hill and a sister, Terry Grant. Survivors include his wife, Pennie of Lexington; his father Wayne Thomson of Brighton IL; two stepdaughters; four brothers, James, Patrick and Jackie Woods and Carl Evans; and three sisters, Judy Spikes, Diane Renfroe and Mary Tanksley of Lexington.

NORA JANE (KELLY) OSBORNE TRAVIS passed away Thursday May 27, 2010 at her home in Lexington. Mrs. Travis was born in Union MS on Jan. 22, 1935 to the late Frances McAllister Kelly and GeorgeRogers Kelly Sr, divisional superintendent Gulf Mobile and Ohio Railroad. The family moved toJackson TN in 1949 where she attended Jackson High School and was a member of Kappa Chi sorority and graduated in 1953. She went on to graduate from Union University and was a member of Chi Omega woman's fraternity. She began teaching first grade at old West Jackson Elementary School and was a member of LaJaneuse and Business and Professional Club. She maried Bobby Joe Osborne, a local attorney and Mayor and moved to Lexington in 1965. She got her MA degree and 45 hours above from Memphis State University. She taught third grade at Caywood Elementary School until she became supervisor, K-9. Mrs. Travis was very active in both special education and regular education activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington. After Mr. Osborne died she married Floyd F. Travis, supervisor with Bellsouth Telephone. He was the father of Susan Travis and Andy Travis. Mr. and Mrs. Travis both enjoyed flea market activities. Mr. Travis and his children preceded her in death, as well as, her brother, George R. Kelly Jr. Survivors include her adopted son Byron Henry, adopted daughter Beverly Butler, adoted grandaughter Bliss Butler Swayne (Shaun), and a host of friends. Services at Pafford Funeral Hme with Dr. Hoyt Wilson and Dr. Gilbert Cubbison officiating. Burial followed in Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson.

CHARLES EDWARD TUCKER was born January 28, 1934 to the late Elizabeth Elenor and Roy Lee Tucker in Bemis TN. He died at age 76, January 3, 2011. Mr. Tucker was Baptist by faith and attended Northside High School in Jackson TN lettering in football. He served 8 years in the Army National Guard and active duty for the 1957 Little Rock Crisis. He retired from Kroger after 39 years as a meat cutter/manager throughout the mid-south and opened the first Kroger Superstore in Dyersburg. His greatest pleasure was gardening, working outdoors and sharing watermelons and vegetables with family friends and the needy. With his wonderful sense of humor and desire to laugh, he remained strong through many health issues. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother; Everett DeRoy Gearntt and grandson Charles Edward Tucker III. He leaves wife of 54 years Betty Ann; daughter Janna (Richard) Rogers of Olive Branch, MS, son; Charles Edward (Karen) Tucker II of ARlington TX, son and caregiver; Robert Alan Tucker of Olive Branch MS grandaughters; Amanda (Link) Eaves of Horn Lake, MS, Lindsay and Lacey Tucker of Arlington TX, great grandson; Reynold Watson whom he loved dearly. Graveside services were held at 2 pm at Highland Memorial Gardens conducted by his friend Rev. James Brown.

ESTON CLINTON TURNER - was the son of the late Henry A. and Mattie Jo Rhodes Turner, he was born in Madison County, later moving to Dumas, Arkansas, where he received his education and graduated from high school. He attended Magnolia A&M College for two years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Chruch of Humboldt and member of Humboldt Lions Club for thirty four years, past president of the Humboldt Strawberry Festival, a Gibson County Commissioner for eleven years, on the board of Humboldt Community Housing for twelve years and a director of the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce for four years. Mr. Turner was vice-president and manager of Peoples Bank in Humboldt for twenty years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Silvey Turner of Humboldt; a daughter and her husband, Denna and Glenn Krosp of Millington; two grandchildren, Thomas Krosp and wife Kim and Angela Baker and husband Chris, all of Millington; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Arlis Turner of Humboldt. Mr. Turner died Sunday at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Services for Mr. Eston "E.C" Turner, 78, will be Wednesday April 26, 2000 at 2pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery with Replogle-Lawrence Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
