P.J. Murray Home
The P.J. Murray home at 316 North Royal Street, two doors from the Southern Engine and Boiler Works, was the headquarters of General Logan during the Federal Occupation of the town of Jackson. It is difficult for later generations to realize the situation when the family is either ordered out of the house or the best rooms are occupied by enemy troops and the lady of the house ordered to prepare meals for those enemy soldiers. Several diaries from this period describe how distasteful such a thing was.
