ANDREW BEATTY
Born in Overton County Tennessee, November 11, 1810; died near Wesley
Chapel, Adair County, April 03, 1899. He came to Missouri in 1820, and five years later was left an orphan. He
came to Adair County during young manhood, and served as sheriff for one term during the war.

Trustee of Clay County, and farmer; born Sept. 2, 1874, in Overton County,
Tenn.; descent, Scotch-Irish; father, John Cook, farmer; mother, Julia Terry; married Annie Smith July 30, 1896.
Paternal grandparents Suls and Betsy (Spicer) Cook; maternal grandparents Lige and Angeline (Denton) Terry. Member
of Church of Christ; Democrat; Odd Fellow. Educated in public schools of Overton County, Tenn. Became Trustee of
Clay County in September 1935, serving his first term in this office. While living in Overton County, was a member
of the Overton County Court for a period of eight years; elected and served as Trustee of Overton County for two
terms; served as Tax Assessor of Overton County for one term. Services as a public official in the many offices
which he has held make him one of the most popular men in Overton and Clay Counties.
