it remembered that at a county court began and held for the county of Sevier at
the court house in Methodist Church in the town of Sevierville (there
being no court house) on the first Monday of April in the year of our Lord one
thousand Eight hundred and fifty Six being the Seventh day of said month,
present and presiding the following justices of the peace for said county

to the court the following certificate of the Coroner of his election as clerk

I certify that at an election held at the Several district election grounds in my county on the 1st Saturday in March 1856 according to law B. M. Chandler was duly elected to the office of County Court clerk the following being the aggrigate State of the poles to wit for B. M. Chandler 611 votes, Lowrey McBath 305 votes, M. W. Rawlings all of the County of Sevier and State of Tennessee are held and firmly bound unto the State of Tennessee in the penal sum of Twelve thousand dollars for which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this 7th day of April 1856. The condition of the above obligation are these that whereas the above bound James McNelly has been duly and constitutionally elected Register of Sevier County for the term of four years from the first Saturday in March 1856. Now if the said James McNelly shall well and truly keep and preserve all the books and papers belonging to said Registers office and at any and all times have the same ready for the examination and search of all persons interested and does well and truly honorably and faithfully register any and all such instruments of writing as by law he is bound to do at such time or times as the same may be required and does honestly and faithfully discharge all the duties incumbent on him during his continuance in office then the above obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

the undersigned jury of view after being duly sworn did on this day proceed to
mark out and law off a public road as directed by the court said road to
commence at the gap of Bays Mountain thence running with or near the old road
by Michael Fagalas and John Fagalas leaving the old road after passing John
Fagalas barn running as marked to the top of the hill intersecting the old road
then with old road to the big public road which we submit to the next quarterly

We the undersigned persons being summoned out on the 5th
April and being duly sworn and having viewed said road, Report the following
alterations viz. at the long ford, let the road be put on the bar near the bank
of the river and cross at right angle at the upper end of the ford, Thence at
the second ford below Martin Claboughs leave the old road and run as heretofore
marked so as to avoid the two fords, leave the old road below the double ford,
and run as marked so as to miss and avoid double fords, leave the old road on
the top of the hill below Noah Ogles and run as marked so as to intersect the
old road above said Noah Ogles, We recommend the court to carry out the report
of a jury heretofore made changing
