This day the Jury of view appointed at the January Term 1857 to view and mark out an alteration in the road near John R. Leaks, make the following report to wit,
We the undersigned appointed by the County Court as a Jury of view to mark out and lay off alterations in the public road as above stated did after being duly sworn according to law did proceed to mark out & lay off said road said alteration to commence at or near the mouth of the lane between James W. Ellis and Dr. McNutt at the west end running as marked on the north side of the old road near J R Leaks stable then crossing the old road thence running on the line between Ellis & Jno R Leak as marked near the corner between Ellis & Leak thence running near the line between the line of Ellis & Brabson as marked intersecting the old road about one hundred yards from Ellis & Leak corner which we submit to the County Court this 27th Jany 1857.

ibid Upon the petition of A A Trotter it is ordered by the court that Robert Lewis, J.
S. Trotter, A Lawson, A R Trotter, & Henry Butler be appointed a jury of
view to view and mark a road of the third clap from Leaving the middle
creek road at A R. Trotters and running with the road passing A A Trotters and intersecting the road on the west fork of
little Pigeon at the ford of the river below J. S. Trotter and that they report
to the present term of this court.

A legal number of Justices of the peace being present and voting therefore it is ordered by the court that the clap of the road from Anderson Thomas to Widow Layfollets be changed to a 3rd clap.
The Jury of view appointed at the January Term of this court to view and mark out a public road from Sevierville to the Bridge on Dumplin Creek make the following report to wit,
The undersigned Term holders having been summoned by the Sheriff of Sevier County and duly sworn as a Jury of view to law (sic) out the road described in the annexed order have proceeded to perform the duty assigned them and do agree upon and make the following report to wit the said road shall begin at the Dumplin bridge thence with the present road to near Epraim Johnsons then through his field to the 4 mile post on sd (sic) road then with said road to the Beach Spring then a southerly direction to Mrs. Pettys a good place for ferry, then up a steep or sidling place about one hundred yards & we suppose will rise about from 10 to 12 inches in six feet thence with a ridge in southerly direction to near I McCroskeys cross fence thence Eastwardly passing south of sd McCroskeys house & intersecting the Sevierville road at the 5 mile post thence with the present road to Sevierville

John Whaley & others a jury of view heretofore appointed to view and mark out alterations in the road from the Baptist Meeting house to the creek below Jas McCarter made their report marking out alteration and thereupon the petition of Thas J Ogle & others was presented to the court in opposition to said report and the facts being seen and fully understood by the court that it is considered by the court that said report be rejected.
This day the jury of view heretofore appointed to view and mark out alterations in the road from the Maryville road to Saml Cusicks made the following report to wit, "We the undersigned appointed to mark out and lay off alterations in the public road as directed by the order of court did after being sworn according to law did proceed to mark off and lay off as follows said alteration to commence at a stake on the side of the Spring branch and direct one hundred and fifty years south of James A Moore house - thence running as marked with or near the old road intersecting the public road at the old house near Jas A Moores which alterations we consider better route than the way the public road runs all which we submit to the court this 12 March 1857

This day Wm McLaughlin tendered to the court his resignation as constable of the 6th District which was accepted by the court, and the Sheriff is ordered to hold an election to fill said vacancy

the court a wild cat scalp which it is proven to the satisfaction of the court
that it was killed in Sevier County it is therefore ordered by the court that
he receive a certificate which shall be received in payment of a his
poll tax
ibid This day John Whaley produced to
the court a wild cat scalp which it is proven to the satisfaction of the court
that it was killed in Sevier County it is therefore ordered by the court that
he receive a certificate which shall be received in payment of a his

This day Jno T Havis a justice of the peace asked the court to resind (sic) the allowance made to Saml B Henderson at the last January Term for fifty dollars for additional allowance for a lot of ground laid off to the public square and a vote of the court being taken resulted as follows those voting to resind said allowance were Huffaker, Havis, McMahan, Johnson, Baker, Bogart those voting against it were Davis, Creswell, Trotter, Evans, & Randles

ibid Ordered by the court that Campbell Fox be appointed overseer of the road from John Walkers to the Twelve mile post and he is hereby required to keep said road in lawful repair with the hands heretofore assigned

A legal number of the justices being present and voting in the affirmative it is ordered by the court that the allowance this day made to Elijah Cate of twenty three dollars & thirty cents for services as one of the courthouse committee be recinded.
It is ordered by the court that L W Burns be fined one dollar for disturbing the court by loud talking.
ibid It is ordered by the court that Thas. I. Ogle be allowed to put up two gates or two pair of bears across the road leading up the creek from the meeting house upon his lands
ibid Ordered by the court that Jacob Evans William Stinnet Nathan Blalock John Kear, Eli Williams be appointed a jury of view to view and mark out alteration on the road leading from the meeting house through the farm of Thomas I Ogle and that they report to the next quarterly Term of this court
