Sevier County ) Be it remembered that at a County Court began and held for the County of Sevier at the courthouse in Sevierville on the first Monday of June 1858, it being the 7th day of said month present and presiding Isaac Trotter Chairman Thas Maples & M Davis Justices of the peace for said county, when the following proceedings were had to wit.
ibid It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that Timothy Chandler was improperly charged with a poll tax for the year 1858 and it further appearing to the court that he having served as an overseer of a public road for twelve previous, it is ordered by the court that he be released from said poll tax.
ibid Ordered by the court that John W Bartlett be appointed overseer of the road from Henry Butlers gate to Pigeon Forge and he is hereby required to keep said road in lawful repair with the hands heretofore assigned

On this 7th day of June 1858 Robt H Hodsden & Redman McMahan Exrs of Wm McMahan Dec. presented the following report. Under the decree obtained in this case at the February term 1858 the Exrs have gone in and sold the lands mentioned and described in said petition to George McMahan for and in consideration of the sum of eleven hundred dollars on the first day of May 1858: four hundred dollars of the purchase money being paid down: the remaining seven hundred dollars payable in eighteen months for which a note was

executed with Archibald McMahan Sr. security and a lien retained upon the land until the purchase money is paid
Which report is in all things confirmed by the court and the court hereby orders that Robt H Hodsden & Redman McMahan make title to the purchaser of said land so soon as the last payment of the purchase money is paid to them, and that said Executors pay the costs of this cause out of the proceeds of the sale of the land mentioned in the petition this case.

ibid Upon the petition of Jonathan Wysong & others it is ordered by the court that William Wayland Jonathan Wysong, George Wade Lewis Wayland Joseph Miniss & Norflet Nichols be appointed a Jury of view to view and mark out a public road Leading from the Maryville road to the farm of Joseph Miniss to commence at the Bars of A H Keener running with the cross fence to Sharps corner then with or near the line between Sharp & Trundle to the creek thence with or near the old Knob road to said Menisses and that they report to the next quarterly term of this court.

This day Lewis Wayland appeared in open court and asked the court to be allowed to give a new bond for the faithful performance as Trustee or assignee to a deed of Trustee & assignment executed by Wm. T. Dowell to secure his creditors that his former securities may be released, which was granted and thereupon the said Lewis Wayland gave a new bond for the faithful performance of said duties in the sum of Twelve thousand dollars with Adam. H. Keener & Levin W Burns as his securities
This day W H Cowan Executor of the Estate of Thos Talbot Decd. presented to the court a certified Copy of the last will & Testament of Thos Talbot Decd. and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court that the original will and the record of the same has been burned up and it appearing to the court from the testimony of M W McCown Lem Duggan & A Lawson that the certified copy now presented is in the hand writing of J P H Clark former clerk of this court and his certificate bears date on the 10th of April 1851 at which time the said Clark was clerk it is therefore ordered by the court that said certified copy of said will be admitted to record.

Clark, Jno T Shields & Eli Williams are held and formley (sic) bound unto the State of Tennessee in the penal sum of Four thousand dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators Jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 7th day of June 1858.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound R S Clark who has been elected a Constable of Sevier County for the term of two years from the first Saturday in March 1858 shall execute and due return make of all process and precepts by him received in virtue of his said election and pay and satisfy all fees and sums of money
