Sevierville Situation of VC
Sevierville the County Cite of Sevier County is beautifully situated in the fork of East & West Pigeon Rivers surrounded by beautiful hills and valleys presenting to the view one of the most picturesque scenery's that can be seen in East Tennessee. The location of Sevierville is as healthy as any in the state & more so than a majority of the towns & villages of the state not with standing the water in the summer season is quite indifferent. The village is composed of some eighteen or twenty dwelling houses & eighteen families. A court house, jail & five stone houses of which four are occupied one retail confectionary and one fine flowering mill also a saw mill & carding machine which are situated on East Pigeon River The imports of the village are as follows sugar, coffee, tobacco, cigars, molasses candies rasons (raisins) , figs, Amons (Almonds), Dry goods, hardware & various other articles to tedious to mention. The Exports of the village are as follows: Bacon, lard, Butter, eggs, Fur, skins, corn, Wheat, feather, Bees wax ginseng, dry hides, rags & C The principle employments of the citizens of the village are as follows: Merchandising, working in blacksmith shop building houses Practicing Medicine shooting with blow guns acting on the gymnastic pole some are watching others to get something to talk about others are fishing & a majority are helping dad Toomy this 20th day of April 1860.
