John Carleton, aged 48, his wife, Nettie Carelton, aged 45, and their son Rupert Carleton, aged 18, were held without bail to answer a charge of having murdered Arthur Howard, son-in-law of the elder Carleton. It was testified at the preliminary hearing at Bristol that Rupert Carlton shot and killed Howard at the dictation of his parents, and at their command shot at N. B. Howard, father of the man killed, immediately after young Howard fell dead in the yard of the Carlton home.

A negro man and wife, Eliza and Tom Williams, 901 Walnut Street, were bound to circuit court Tuesday afternoon by Magistrate W. N. Showalter on charges of possessing whisky, with bond being set at $250 each. A squad of city officers and deputy sheriff raided the couple's home Monday night and testified to finding fifteen and one-half pints of whisky in the kitchen of the house. Taking part in the raid were Radio Patrolmen W. L. Cheek, Cecil Durham and Jack Jobe; Patrolmen Luther Morelock, Lawrence Ellis, Ed Fair and Motorcycle Officer Woodrow Hurst and Deputy Sheriff D. L. McConnell.
