EATHERLY, MARY CARR - Mrs. Mary Eatherly, wife of Mr. W. J. Eatherly, died at her home at Gilt Edge Wednesday morning of malarial hematuria, after an illness of two weeks, and her burial took place today. Mrs. Eatherly was a member of the Episcopal church and was born and reared at Randolph. She was a daughter of the Charles Carr.

EATON, MINNIE - Miss Minnie Eaton, late of Mississippi, aged 14 years, died of pneumonia at her home, near Bride, Tuesday morning, and was buried the day following at Mt. Lebanon graveyard.

ECKFORD, "CHILD" - The bright and attractive little son of Mr. and Mrs. Becton Eckford, died in Covington on Monday last, after a brief illness at two years of age. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. M. King Tuesday morning and the body laid to rest at Munford Cemetery.

EDMONDS, JAMES OTHELL - COVINGTON - James Othell Edmonds, 74, radio and television repairman, died Thursday at his home after a long illness. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with burial in Munford Cemetery. He leaves his wife, Lois Rogers Edmonds; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Williams of Sickleville, N.J., Mrs. Doris Parker of Covington and Mrs. Janice Harris of Horn Lake; four sisters, Mrs. Nina Mae Jorden, Mrs. Annie Pearl Dillingham and Mrs. Ruby Inez Rowe, all of Memphis, and Mrs. Maggie Hopper of Covington, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ELAM, GEORGE - Mr. George Elam, a well-known citizen of the Egypt neighborhood, died Sunday afternoon and was buried in the Campground graveyard Monday. Mr. Elam was between 65 and 70 years of age, and is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter.

ELAM, WILLIAM MALCOLM - MUNFORD - William Malcolm 'Fat' Elam, 66, died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City, Ark., after a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Munford Funeral Home with burial in Helen Crigger Cemetery. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Gunter leaves two daughters, Mrs. Lynn Gunter of Winter Haven, Fla., and Mrs. Velma Louise Lowe of Brighton; two sons, William Elam Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Jimmy Elam of Memphis; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Smith, and two brothers, James Harold Elam and M. ELCAN, HENNIE WILLIAMSON - Mrs. Hennie Williamson Elcan, widow of the late N. H. Elcan, of this city, died in Bolivar Monday evening at 9 o'clock. Her remains were taken to Memphis, where the burial occurred on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Elmwood cemetery.

ELCAN, PRESTON - Preston Elcan, a well-known colored man, died at his home in the Phelan neighborhood last Sunday, of paralysis, and was buried at Salem at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

ELLIS, "Child" - The two year old son of Mr. R. L. Ellis, of Island 35, died on the 9th instant of malarial fever, after an illness of about ten days. (The Covington Leader, June 17, 1898)
ENTRIKEN, SAM - Mr. Sam Entriken, a well known citizen of Rialto, died of pneumonia at his home Friday night, after an illness of six days, and his burial occurred at Charleston graveyard Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The deceased was 54 years old at the time of his death. Six sons and two daughters survive him.

ERVIN, CASEY - Casey, the three-year-old son of Mr. A. D. Ervin, of the Solo neighborhood, died Thursday night of pneumonia, after an illness of only a few days, and his remains were buried Saturday at 1 o'clock at the Townsend graveyard, Rev. Mr. Dew, of Henning, conducting the funeral services.
ERWIN, ALICE LUTTRELL - Alice Luttrell Erwin, 93, of Walnut Creek, CA. passed away on February 14, 2011. She was a retired Civil Service employee and grew up in the Garland Community. Funeral services were held at Schmidt and Dixon Funeral Home with burial in Sunset Cemetery, Berkeley, California. She was preceded in death by her son, William David (Bill) Erwin. Mrs. Erwin is survived by her granddaughter, Carolina Szuch of Evergreen, Colorado and grandson, Michael Erwin of Auburn, California, and three great grandchildren, a brother, Andy Luttrell, of Citrus Heights, California and a sister, Adeline Luttrell Shankle, of Covington.

ERWIN, LOIS ROE MAX - Dec. 14, 1902 - Nov. 6, 1995 - The funeral for Lois Roe Max Erwin of Covington was on Wednesday afternoon in Walnut Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dennis Peeler officiating. Burial was in R. H. Munford Cemetery in Covington. Mrs. Erwin died in Covington Care Center, where she was a resident, of heart failure. Born in Tipton County, she was a daughter of John D. and Kate Street Roe. She was the secretary for the Walnut Grove church for 40 years and was a member of the Garland Home Demonstration Club. The widow of Russell H. Erwin, she leaves six sisters, Ruth Kelley, Irene Butler, Sara Bradshaw and Virginia Wilson of Burlison and Murna Roberts and Mary Kate Wilson of Covington; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

EVERETT, MARGARET JANE - Mrs. Margaret Jane Everett, daughter of B. W. and M. A. Baker, died at her home in the vicinity of Locust Bluff at 4:10 o'clock Saturday morning of continued fever, after an illness of three weeks, and was buried at the Townsend graveyard Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, the funeral services being conducted by the Rev. E. J. W. Peters. Mrs. Everett was at the time of her death thirty-seven years of age and is survived by her husband and infant daughter of six months, to whom the sympathy of the community goes out in the loss of a true wife and mother. She had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood and died in the full hope of the reward that is promised the Christian, expressing before she passed away a readiness to answer Death's summons.
