YARBRO, RYAN - Oct. 26, 1984 - Jan. 5, 2001 - Services for Ryan Yarbro of Burlison were Sunday Afternoon in the chapel of Maley Yarbrough Funeral Home Inc. of Covington with Rev. Ron McMillian officiating. Interment was in Indian Creek Cemetery, near Brighton. The teenager died in the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington of injuries from a one vehicle accident. Born in Memphis, he was a son of Frankie and Karen Townsend Yarbro. He was a student at Tipton Rosemark Academy. In addition to his parents, he leaves a sister, Lane Yarbro of Burlison, a half-brother, Justin Hazlerig of Brighton; his grandparents, Patsy and Franklin Yarbro of Burlison and his great-grandparents, Ella Billings, Annie Mae Bringle and Alma Patterson of Covington and Opal Salmon of Idaville. The family requests any memorials be sent to Tipton Rosemark Academy Scholarship Fund.

YARBROUGH, JOHN A. - Mr. John A. Yarbrough, a Confederate soldier and highly respected citizen of this city, on Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock, following an illness of about 10 days he died of pneumonia. His death followed that of his son Dr. L.A. Yarbrough which occurred on the previous Saturday. He was nearing his 85th birthday when the end came. Mr. Yarbrough was a native of this county, having been born and reared only a short distance from Covington. For about 40 years he made his home in Covington and was highly esteemed by those of his acquaintance. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, a good and exemplary citizen. During the Civil War he enlisted in Forrest’s Cavalry, serving under the great Confederate leader the last two years of that struggle. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the family residence on Maple street. L. J. Sherrill, assisted by Revs Hamilton and W. C. Kerr, conducted the services after which the remains were interred in Munford cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mollie Dagan Yarbrough. He is the grandfather of Mr. L. B. Yarbrough, of this city and Mrs. R. F. Ingram, Jr., of Atlanta Georgia.

YARBROUGH, JOHN L. - Mr. John L. Yarbrough died at his home in Covington on Wednesday evening, December 23rd, at 11:45 o'clock, of blood poison. He had been in poor health some time prior to his death, but appeared to be in his usual health until taken with the fatal illness a few days before his death. The funeral services were held at his late residence at 3 o'clock in the afternoon the day following his death, conducted by Rev. J. T. Myers, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment was at Munford cemetery immediately after the services. The pall bearers were his associates in the Enterprise Company, where he had been engaged as a clerk for many years. Mr. Yarbrough was 57 years old and was born and reared in the vicinity of Covington. He was a life-long member of the Methodist church and took an active interest in the church and was one of the charter members of the Bible class and one of the captains. A modest, quiet man, none had aught to say against him. He rendered unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that belong to him. He was twice married, his first wife died on Christmas day thirteen years ago. His second wife, who was Miss Bettie Turner, with two sons by his first marriage, Messrs Anderson Yarbrough, of Munford, and Sam Yarbrough, of this place, survive him. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Wortham, of this place, and Mrs. W. L. Smith, of the vicinity. Mr. Yarbrough had many friends who regret his passing away and sympathize with his family in their bereavement.

YOUNG, DOROTHY - Covington - Dorothy Young, 55, homemaker, died Thursday of cancer at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Stanton, where she was a member, with burial in the church cemetery. Thomas Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Young, the widow of Willie L. Young, leaves four daughters, Cleopatra Young, Sandra Ann Young, Mozella Young and Deloris Booker, all of Covington; five sons, Danny Lee Young, Stevie Young, Michael L. Young a nd Christopher L. Young, all of Covington, and Jeffery D. Young of Milwaukee; her parents, Oscar and Emma Cotton Cunningham of Stanton; two sisters, Mae Lottie Cunningham of Stanton and Esther Cochran of Mason; four brothers, Oscar Cunningham of Chicago, James Cunningham of Milwaukee, Thomas Cunningham of St. Louis and Arthur Cunningham of Arlington, and 17 grandchildren.

YOUNG, DOROTHY LUCILE - Dorothy Lucile, thirteen-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Young, died at their home near Tabernacle on Sunday morning, July 1, and was laid to rest that afternoon at 6 o'clock in Mt. Carmel cemetery. She was a bright attractive child and is sorely missed by her parents, brothers and sisters. They have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

YOUNG, GEORGE - Mr. George Young died at his home in the Elm Grove vicinity Thursday morning at 9 o'clock of heart failure and was buried the following morning at 10 o'clock at Smyrna burial ground. The deceased was between 50 and 55 years of age. He leaves a wife but no children.

YOUNG, SAM H. - Mr. Sam H. Young died at his home in St. Louis Monday, of acute meningitis, and was buried there Tuesday. Mr. Young had been engaged in the wholesale hat business in St. Louis for many years, was connected with the Gauss-Langenberg Hat Co., of that city, and was well and favorably known to many people in Covington, who will be grieved to learn of his death. He was a brother of the late Harry S. Young, one of the most prominent members of the Covington bar in his day, and has many relatives in this city. He was about 65 years of age, was a member of the Presbyterian church for many years, was a genial and courteous gentleman and a successful business man. YOUNT, MARY ETTA - Mrs. Mary Etta Yount, wife of Mr. J. M. Yount, died at her home near Gilt Edge Saturday morning at 6 o'clock of lung trouble after an illness of nine weeks. Her burial took place at Smyrna burial ground Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. G. W. Tracey conducting the funeral services at the home. Mrs. Yount was a member of the Baptist church and was a most excellent Christian woman. She was 52 years of age is survived by her husband and two daughters.
